| | | Just 2X and me but a fun trip none the less! I had to pull over in Mansfield when I saw this guy. He taunted me but it was pretty obvious that he was a pro and just wanted to use me to satisfy the blood lust of the HUGE crowd so I didn't fall for his chiding.
Not much further(Cleburn) we found our new UE biker hangout. There's actually a counter with enough room for 4 or 5 to place orders inside. Unfortunately the hours are 9-3 M-S.
...and this is the Burger Bar parking lot...
PLENTY of room!

| | | Well Hell. I finally bought a bike, but its around a 700 mile cruise out to where you guys run. Furthermore, it was 43 degrees here this morning. (Grumble, grumble) Perhaps next Summer.
I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread. |

| | | Attended the Vintage Dirt Track Association races at the Eagles M/C in Waco with an old dirt tracking buddy of mine (from 30yrs ago). We laughed because they said there would be "old guys" racing. And in fact there was, even an Over 60 category! It was like good old county fair type racing father & son teams etc. From BSA to Yamaha:
These ultralight antique Bultacos dominated even though outclassed in the 650 and 750 class (pssst theyre only 360cc)
Cheapest way to build a super competitive half mile bike, start with a MX bike!
I think he was praying.
They run about 75-80mph around the 1/2 mile oval, so prayer might not be a bad idea.
More Hondas than you could count they ran in the Modern Single Class since theyre new like 1980s something models!
Triumph was well represented, this ones got a 1080cc big bore kit
And it took the checkered
Triumph purpose built from the hubs out
HD was represented too, but they were either broke down or leakin oil on the track
Those old dead Yamaha 650s and 750s you see on Craigslist for $300? This is where they go to be resurrected.
Thought maybe you fellow motorheads would approve. If youre down Waco way check'em out nice track not much on seating but hang on the rail. Dont break any rules or they'll put you to makin big rocks into small rocks.
ps: I had a half miler back in the day, circa 1970. I couldnt afford a Triumph or HD XR750 then so I took an old Yamahammer 250 Enduro that I paid $100 for, and put a 360MX engine in it that I paid $20 for, not running! Ran way faster than I could ride: gutted front brake, compression release, fork brace and Yokohama tires on some alloy rims I "found" somewhere. Poor boys flat tracker for under $200 bucks.
