| | | I'm from the Milw area and haven't recieved any inquiries. I honestly haven't done much UE'ing in the area so not sure if I can help but it is certainly time to get out now that the snow has melted.

| | | The snow melting was actually my inspiration for this post! This winter lasted way too long, and now is the perfect time to do some exploring. I'm a n00b too, so no worries there... Oh, and I actually live in Greenfield, not downtown or anything. If you guys are interested, just P.M. me and perhaps we can decide whether or not to meet?

| | | A couple of years ago Mwacky_Swift put together a meet-n-greet. I made it out to that which was fun. Perhaps we should try something like that??

| | | Gatsby and I were in Milwaukee for 10 minutes in 2006 and found a 20ft diameter tunnel with mine trains and stuff in it, but then we had to get back on the Greyhound. It looked like it also connected to some big sewers. If Gatsby is on here maybe he can post the photos.

| | | And after a hiatus I am back to this thread. Yes, meet-n-greet, whatever. I just know that I wouldn't mind UE-ing about a bit, now that summer is almost upon us. Oh, another question for Milwaukee denizens, or Midwesterners altogether; anyone have any information about the military site which has been replaced by the Summerfest grounds? I read a bit about it, Nike class ordinance and all, and of course Google Earth still shows the faint outline of the runway, but I was curious if anyone knew more? My imagination can run wild with this sort of thing, and the thought that there may exist tunnels under the park...whooo, shivers.

| | | So you have found the secret of Summerfest. About the only remanants as of 10 years ago were Lannon. The rest are in pretty poor shape, like dozed. I do believe there is one more site that has a small bit left, but Ed's site would have the most up to date info except for some field work.

| | | I live in Sturgeon Bay in Door County right now, but I'll be going to UWM next fall. I don't know that much about abandoned Milwaukee, but it would be fun to meet up sometime!

| | | UWM used to have steam tunnels, but from what I hear they blocked them all off. But one person's desire to keep someone out is equal or lesser to another's desire to get in, isn't it?
UPDATE: As far as the nike missle site in lannon (m-86 correct?), I live about 15 minutes from it. From what I understand, the property that the actually silo was on is now private property, and the house was actually built right over it, and the site filled in (how, idk. I'd say it's fairly uneconomic to fill it completely), so I have little hope left. I still might take a peak though at the missle command and barracks (now park headquarters and garage) [last edit 6/3/2008 4:36 AM by shotgun mario - edited 1 times]

| | | If memory serves one side had some trucks parked there, maybe park service, or some sort of official sort of thing. I assume and this is like 10 years ago that was the IFC. I remember something of the launcher area of having some spray painted sign of police or fire training there. Possibly a cover, but it was private property and the first time we were parked for about a minute and got talked to something to that effect. I haven't kept up on that or any of my old military haunts much since I got the shop or my kick ass daughter. And for the record she can rappel better than most of you. And that was shortly before she was 3. All's I can say is I'm old and I suck. Just ask the old school Milwaukee crowd. Also to be correct the Nikes (Ajax or Hercs) had no silos. Just underground magazines. They raised the missiles on elevators and put them on launchers. But good enough for the girls we date. [last edit 6/3/2008 6:28 AM by junkyard - edited 1 times]
