UWM used to have steam tunnels, but from what I hear they blocked them all off.

But one person's desire to keep someone out is equal or lesser to another's desire to get in, isn't it?

xD True, true. Once I get there and look around more closely, I can confirm whether or not it's ALL blocked.

srry, I meant underground. I knew that. but I wrote silos.

Otherwise how could a house be built on it after being filled in?

Is there anyone out there who knows anything about the drains in and around Milwaukee? I'm currently creating a list... I have around 60 so far. I have yet to go to any but a few in my town (some are public, some are private) but any other info would be useful. Does anyone know of any already explored? I've found entrances to several that I cannot wait to get into, but anything that anyone else knows would be great.

There is a pretty small one under the median of Burleigh St.(3.5 ft diameter) It can be accessed through an outfall into the Menomonee River Parkway. There is also a larger one (6 ft) underneath Watertown Plank rd. in Elm Grove.

I went down a drain in Menomonee Falls along Appleton. It was 8 feet around, but quickly turned into 40" and went back into the suburbs, so we didn't go much more than a 1/4 mile like that, as it only kept shrinking. I have declared it to be called The Waterfall of Disappointment.

Update:

I have a list of around 60 right now, if anyone's interested. None are personally-looked-at, so I've yet to know if they're locked or not, as I will be scouting them all within the next few weeks.

I haven't done much draining myself, but it is an interesting topic and can yield interesting finds. The two I am well aware of would be in Greendale on 76th street next to Martin Luther High School. There is a small thicket of brush and then a drainage tunnel leading from a small culvert. It seems to run under 76th street and then on into the Southridge Mall parking lot, as far as I can tell.

The only other I am aware of internally/externally would be the waste treatment plant entrance right around 43rd and Grange in Greenfield. There are now subdivisions in the area, but as a child it was completely wooded and the tunnel we traversed traveled parallel to 43rd street at least up to Edgerton.

And that concludes my draining site knowledge.

I would however be interested in perusing your list, Shotgun_Mario, if at all possible. I also know of some sites you may be interested in...unfortunately it seems as if one of them; the old "Gentleman's Club" on College Avenue betwixt 27th street and Howell Avenue, is currently being cleared out (drywall, cardboard, poles on which the female gender may have once danced, etc.). I was truly hoping to gain entrance this summer after scouting a bit this winter, but alas, it shall never be...

about the UWM tunnels... here's where I read about them:

http://www.jsonlin...dex.aspx?id=380898

aparently they were sealed in the 90's... so I bet there's still some chance. I gotta get into that campus sometime!

the reporter talked to Avatar-X for the interview, and two MSOE students who got caught in the pabst (which I read about through hearing here, and one of their MSOE sites). PLUS I've talked to Fadrowski from when I went to MSOE, because their plow crashed into my car!

Really interesting article! Heh, I love how the security officials are like, "We don't think this is happening. There is no trend blahblah." Pft.

I'll really have to look around... and the draining thing looks like a lot of fun x3.

Around Milwaukee....

because of all the rain lately, I'm still unsure about entering them...

so I'm still scouting out drains. Will be this weekend as well, hopefully find which can easily be entered and which can't.

lol, I was wrong on the exact location of the nike missles in Lannon. I actually ended up being told where they were by one of the ditsiest girls I've ever met... I was off 3/4 of a mile. Easy as hell to get into, hardly ever watched, and dummy camera in the front (but the front isn't needed). I might need to learn to scuba.

heheh... sorry for not logging on in such... a long... time... heheh...

So I now officially live in Milwaukee! I live in Sandburg, on campus, and... I HAVE A STAFF CARD! I work in the cafeteria, so I'm not exactly sure how far that would get me... but still. Maybe somewhere xD.

I haven't really been able to look for anything interesting yet (college is harder than I though O_O; ) But I did make it up to the roof of my tower (North) once. I don't have enough courage to go up that big metal thing quite yet. I was alone then, and didn't have a camera with me or anything. For the first few weeks when I basically had nothing I would go up there about every day to see if the door was unlocked. Only once... Perhaps I will get lucky another day when I remember to have my camera with me. (Idiot...)

I'll have to go look up stuff in the library about the whole steam tunnel thing, and the halfway done subway...

awesome. I was looking forward to another explorer moving to Milwaukee, and then you disappeared...

I'd have gone myself to the archives, but I'm hardly in that area (usually the heart of downtown) and I severely dislike the busyness of that area. If you're ever up for exploring shoot me a message.

Also, on a bit of a non-UE thing, my best friend and I are going to do a little ghost hunting on Halloween weekend. She's a tour guide on campus, and knows about where a few ghosts on campus are. The creepy thing is in the North Tower specifically, there have been a few suicides, so there are ghosts on the G2 and 15/16 floors, as well as by Johnston Hall, by Merill. I've never really experienced any sort of phenomenom, and I've always wondered if there are really ghosts or just coincidences. Should be fun :]

haha, someone i know swore that when security would do their rounds in north tower, they'd take the elevator up and walk stairs down... and the elevator would stop on every floor on the way down as they got to it.

i was on project crew for a summer, some of my friends that continued to work there for the school year had to pack up the kid that committed suicide's belongings... would've been '02-'03 school year. creepy.

and for what it's worth, we were often in the basement storage below south tower, but i never looked around for tunnel openings. pretty sure if there was something known we would've tried it.

good luck, and let us know how it goes! (i no longer live in milwaukee, but definitely get back fairly often)

Hello Milwaukeeans! (Is that right? Milwaukeeites? Milwaukeetions? Drunkards?) Anyways, on the way back into Milwaukee from home, I noticed this large factory-looking thing off of the highway, off of Exit 72?A onto Capitol. Anybody know about this place?

Saw a couple pics of the Pabst Brewing Co., but I've heard that it's next to impossible to get in anymore. Oh well :/.

pabst brewery isn't near capitol... were you on 45 or 43? I drive both almost everyday, and the only thing I can think of near capitol is on 45, and that would be the heating co. building with the red letters, and the other one (steel I think) with the yellow letters. Otherwise I have no idea, as I see nothing around 43.

After looking back for the exit, you did mean 43, and that would be a school... or else I don't know what you could mean, as there's nothing else around there big enough...
