| | | I'm curious what people think about drinking before (or during) exploring. I try to stay dry on principle, but lately I've had a few opportunities to get into places late at night on the way home from a night out. I don't think it's a good idea, and in particular I don't like going exploring at night. Apologies if it's been asked.

| | Re: Drinking and UE <Reply # 1 on 11/6/2007 7:44 AM >
| | | A beer or two while having a BBQ party on the roof or a glass of fine cognac after reaching the goal is nothing, but I'd rather not explore with anyone who's drunk. Of course the one who's driving must stay dry.

| | | I don't think its a good idea. You need to have your common sense with you. Floors could be unsupported, cops could be around, walls might be ready to fall down, you could loose your 2-6...

| | | There's been a few times when me and my buddies took a couple six packs and our guitars up to the roof of an abandoned School for a little UE jam session. We had already explored the entirety of the place at least 50 times in the previous years, though, and knew the place intimately. It was our favorite. It was more a matter of relaxation in a place that happened to be a familiar abandonment. Typically, though, not something I partake in.

| | | Eh, If you're a little buzzed i'm sure that'd be fun but. Between sketchy floors and security, I wouldn't risk it for most locations. Go explore, get drunk after.

| | | We have had a drink or two after reaching our goal / target, but getting drunk is never a good idea. It all depends on your comfort level, a little bit of alcohol may calm you down a little, taking the 'jitteries' away. Getting hammered will just cause nothing but problems, both legal and safety.

| | | Drinking while exploring is unethical. That's why I only freebase before breaking into a place to fuck it up.

| | | It was always nice to hit a few beers after a successful day, to be sure. In most countries, I wouldn't want to have to sweet talk a pissed off cop or a security guard with booze on my breath. In Korea however, it would probably be considered justification. "Oh, is that alcohol on his breath? He didn't mean to enter this restricted area. . . he's just drunk. No problem." Then he'd probably ask how much I can drink. Bah, I've given up the liquor now anyway so whatever.

| | | In Scotland the quickest way to a jail cell is to be stone cold sober while exploring. The cops catch you without a drink in you and your dead. Chris...
We all had ostriches. My dad had an ostrich farm! I remember one day someone came in and said the high altitude bombing of Kosovo had been a limited success, so we all went out and celebrated… by killing an ostrich and boiling it in kiwi fruit. |

| | | It's all in how you are when you're drunk. And in how drunk you are. Obviously if you're at a point where you fall over trying to run from a security guard, that isn't a good thing. For some people, there is a point where they loosen up and enjoy themselves more and take risks they wouldn't normally take, though not excessive risks, and not for no reason.
