Photographers in my company: 28 - 42k (That's UK pounds, not puny AmeriBucks). That's a 'nice living' in my book! Sure, it's maybe not a 'nice living' to Bill Gates... But it's all subjective I guess. Chris...

yeah that is quite a nice living. about 72,000usd

| | | This whole thing is silly, The original post was not about posting magazine quality pics, it was someone trying to reach out and be a part of the UER community only to be met with Dobi's usual quip.
Dobi's jerk song and Dance is almost as old and wornout as mine [last edit 11/25/2005 10:54 PM by Mike Dijital - edited 2 times]

| | | i could write an essay on this thread but it will just fall on deaf ears as everyone has already chosen sides. what i gather so far is that if you can make a decent living, afford camera equipment, and take an extra 10 seconds to compose a shot, you are an elitist artsy snob. this fits me really well because i've been taking a palette and beret with me on my last few outings. publicly posting a photo in a "photo forum" leaves it open to criticism. oh, and here is a photo i took of norwich, i hope everyone enjoys it at much as the foxboro shots...
ps. the photography critique board sounds retarded, where is the exploration critique board? "i think your mission sounded interesting, however, entry though the basement sounds standard, why not try the 2nd floor for a more dynamic story?"

Here is what I would tell you, Dobi, if you were a novice photographer who maybe just took some pics in your spare time and posted them to share*: I like your photo Dobi. It makes me think of a still from an early Cine type colour movie film. The fact it's not very well framed or composed backs up that feeling - as it looks like it was a still from the camera man panning along the building. If you were going for that look? Good job! In my opinion, it's ok! Now, don't you have a warm glow? You might go out now, encouraged - and take a better version of said picture and think more about lining it up nicely. There are gracious ways to pass along criticism... All depends on your attitude and level or lack of social skill - and whether or not you intend to help someone along, or just make yourself feel superior in what you say. Anyways, I'm sure you will have more fun in the new forum designed for strict artistic critique. Chris... *Which would represent possibly 75% of all Urban Explorers.
We all had ostriches. My dad had an ostrich farm! I remember one day someone came in and said the high altitude bombing of Kosovo had been a limited success, so we all went out and celebrated… by killing an ostrich and boiling it in kiwi fruit. |

| | | Hm. When someone explores something, and posts crappy pics, then maybe you can say: "Nice effort. Keep exploring." And I don't even mean that they need to get inside. Decent exterior photography that maybe explains the place a bit is perfectly acceptable. But if they're snapping a few pics as they drive past they place. What have they contributed? We all know its there, and we all know what it looks like. THANKS.

Listen up, I was not "driving by the place" as you have so implied. I posted my pics to share. I really don't care whether you all think they are crap or not! Also didn't really think one had to be a professional to post in this forum. You all need to grow the FK up and get off your high horses before someone pushes you off!

A professional what? I said that I think pictures should contribute something, not that they had to be amazing. It's not a personal attack, and I thought I offered a bit more than: "Those suck." But hey, if no one cares, whatever.
