| | | I don't really like the name Keepsake House as I don't think it fits with the history of the house and the past inhabitants but I'm not clever enough to think of another one so I'll just let it be for now ha. This large abandoned house is probably one of the best in the UK at this moment. The upstairs is like stepping back in time with bedrooms filled with vintage possessions as well as the regular hallmarks of a hoarder - stacks and stacks of newspapers, whole boxes full of window latches, masses of shoes, no fewer than four cookers and three fridges in the kitchen etc etc. The last owner of the house was a politician, and at the best guess he died before his wife, who carried on living in the house spiraling down the path of a hoarder. The upstairs looked to have not been used in some time, with the 'final' bed in a downstairs living room surrounded by piles of stuff and a dresser stacked with medication bottles. After some rummaging I found numerous weird things including books on Scientology, a Russian photo book from the time of the Cold War and various pieces of paperwork from Masonic lodges. It's an amazing house, absolutely beautiful on the outside and would make a fantastic renovated home for someone. At the back of the extensive grounds is a large brick garage with a Fiat Strada inside, although sadly locked tight it is just about visible through a window. I managed to break a quite integral part of my tripod very soon after starting to shoot inside the house so I wasn't able to get a number of the angles of things that I wanted or originally intended to, which sucks. 1
