| | | Been caught once exploring an abandoned water park. We were first caught by security, then the cops were called after. Be extremely polite and tell them the truth. You are simply exploring and taking pictures. I was with a group of 4, but the officers let us off easy with only 1 ticket of $50 (the security were set on pressing charges and so I took one for the team ). The ticket was issued under a provincial offence so you can think of it as a parking ticket, nothing on your record kind of thing. Cameras are great ways to show them your honesty. From my experience and what I've been told, exploring with only a camera in hand is the best way to go. When you encounter security or police, you can clearly show them that you have nothing to vandalize with, and the only thing you carry is a camera. Dressing well helps a lot too. Finally, just remember, with urban exploring, 9 times out of 10, you are trespassing. ALWAYS read up on your local laws and regulations and understand what you are risking.
