| | | I wish people would be aware that all the danger in these caves is caused by the CITY, the very people that are trying to keep everyone out of the caves are in doing so making it many times more dangerous than it otherwise would've been. Yeah I know this Bunghole kid is a fucking moron, but he wouldn't have made a scene if he could've WALKED RIGHT OUT OF THE CAVE like he could've if the city hadn't FILLED IT WITH BRIDGE RUBBLE WITH REBAR THAT IS THREATENING TO POKE AN EYE OUT and then FILLED IN ALL THE ENTRANCES EXCEPT THE HARDER-TO-ACCESS STAIRCASE. St. Paul city government is consistently full of people stupider than this Bunghole kid. And, when the girls died a few years ago, after the city put the fire out, they SEALED TWO OF THE THREE ENTRANCES, THEREBY TRAPPING THE CARBON MONOXIDE, and a couple weeks later those girls showed up and died of carbon monoxide poisoning. I know the biggest dumbass award goes to the moron that started the fire, but the city could've prevented it too by LEAVING THE ENTRANCES OPEN TO PROVIDE VENTILATION, THEREBY DISSIPATING THE CARBON MONOXIDE. If the city really wanted to make things safe, and not just be a giant douche and keep everybody out, they'd open up ALL the horizontal entrances so you can walk right in and remove ALL the rubble so you can't trip and poke an eye out on the rebar or worse. Then it'd simply be like an underground park. Sealing up these caves doesn't work in the same way that prohibition didn't work. Somebody wanna write the mayor a letter and Cc the media? PS I OWN a tunnel system more confusing than most of these caves, and nobody has gotten trapped or killed in it. Why? If you want to leave you just crawl right back out the way you came in. There's no filled/blocked entrances, no rubble waiting to trip you and poke your eye out, none of that shit. Just open crawl tunnels. TUNNELS DO NOT NEED TO BE DANGEROUS! THEY ARE ONLY DANGEROUS IF SOMEBODY MAKES THEM THAT WAY!

| | | Posted by macphisto Tell us more about your tunnel, Slim Jim. Is it made out of blankets and couch cushions? :p
| It's made of Jordan sandstone. Yep, seriously. All 200ish feet of it, and counting. Of course digging in sandstone takes many times longer than making a tunnel with blankets and couch cushions, but it's expected to last 1000 years. And it feels like you're deep underground. We only have one loop so far and people have already gotten confused. My avatar pic is the map of the maze. 70% complete as of today. And the maze is only Phase 1. Phase 2 will be a series of chambers known as the party room, Phase 3 and 4 and however many phases we have time for, who knows, we'll take our years of tunneling experience to figure out what people will enjoy the most!
