| | | VERY glad to hear from you. I'm sure you'll find Stricklands appealing, since you did such a fantastic job at Mt. Airy.(Question, why didn't ya take any pictures of the "Suicide bedroom ??) !! When I was there the other day, there wasn't a soul around, everything was intact, with some deterioration, signs falling down, rotten wood, a few smashed windows, but mostly everything was there, or everything for that matter, the lodge & guestroom we were in was still furnished.Power was off in the chalet. If you come in from interstate 80, get off at the Scotrun exit. It should be the very next right turn after the Mt. Airy Golf course sign. It sort of makes a sharp right turn, with an old rustic cabin type building at the right. A large black billboard type sign should be at the turn, which was the former Stricklands sign. Some of the roads at the lanes for the guest chalets are blocked off with boulders, so you might have to park alongside the main road & risk being seen, or walk up from the main road. There is a large wooden awning type thing, you can't miss it. You would drive through it, and register at the building on the left. The door is boarded up tight, but you'll see that a big payne of glass is smashed out (access ??). Thats where the tall, black super model type girl told me back in 1989 that they didn't take personal checks !! Walk forward to the gift shop & let me know if anything is in there. There was a pool, shuffleboard court, HUGE didning room, and a therater type building for the night club acts. There are supposed to be larger "Mansionettes " on the property, possibly further up the road. Stricklands was a old type resort, and Emil Wagner bought it from the Strickland family. PLEASE reply & keep me very posted !!
