| | | Ok, so I stupidly poked my head out onto the ceiling area of Kodak 9 too. But Opted not to fall to my death. However...I may not be a robot, but I CAN grow back body parts (or re-attach them). I lost 2 fingers and a toe once (in separate incidents)...all are perfectly reattached and in working order. Also - My tonsils have been removed twice and have no grown back for a 3rd time - try to find some stats on that! I'm a freak of nature.
The Seesaw - epic! It was so much fun! But most importantly - CAMPING?! I know I'm a noob, but I'll audition if I have to - I love CAMPING!!!!!!!!! I would love to attend!!! PLEASE!
I'm typing this with my middle fingers. I love the smell of mold in the fall. |

| | | Posted by tower_060 Im not some fucking dumb ass that believes everything thats posted on the stupid internet. I've had enough jobs to have first hand experience and have enough friends that are all over the career chart to find out the facts v.s fictional bull shit ( and yes that is how i know about the shit in the water, since my buddy manages the engineering firm that does the testing for most of ontario). This is only true when there hasn't been a rain at all in the last 48Hr. I can't remember the stutistics, but the plant beside marie-cirtus can only handle so much. Thats why they starting to rebuilding the treatment plant were the leash free park was.

I work as an engineer (albeit not a civil engineer, but you do learn a few things along the way). moreso, I've spent hundreds of hours underground exploring 50+ drains, sewers, culverts, tailraces, CSOs over the past few years. I'm not an expert like some of the members here, but I do know a thing or two about this stuff. Its very very obvious when a drain has been tainted by illegal sanitary connections (pieces of toilet paper, tampons, chunks of shit), and I can say from firsthand experience they're few and far between. I can only name a few "storm" drains where sanitary contamination has been evident. Not to say it doesnt happen, but its a lot more rare than you may have been lead to believe by your "expert" friends. The fines for doing so are severe and illegal connections are remediated once discovered. Sewers do occasionally get backed up and overflow into streams, but the city is VERY quick about fixing them once they find out about it.
I discovered this sewer overflowing into cooksville creek, told a friend who is an engineer for the city of mississauga and within 2 days they had a crew onsite to fix the problem and clean up the bank. and sewers become even MORE dilluted during or after rainfall. When its raining, the sewage content drops even further than it would in dry weather because of the additional stormwater entering the system. Sewers are most rank when they're only accepting waste from industrial and sanitary connections. The treatment plant in jack darling park (where the dog park used to be) is actually a drinking water treatment plant, and the construction on it was planned years ago and was fast tracked in part because of the economic action plan, not some emergency need to alleviate sewage overflows in the city. oh, and for the record, other than the risk of drowning in a flash flood, draining isnt any more dangerous than exploring any above ground location. Ive never once gotten sick from going into a sewer. if anything, I'd say its helped develop my immune system to the point where I rarely get sick at all.

| | | What Terapro said. Also, don't assume the water is clean just because it's a creek either. You can still get tons of waterborne parasites from it. Wash/sanitize your hands. And don't put it in yo' mouth.

Your right, there isn't that many illegal sewer drains tapped into the storm sewers, you are right and im sorry i actually wasn't trying to lead people in the wrong direction with that statement. and yes the fines are crazy expensive when the sewer drain is tapped into a storm sewer, not to mention the cost of rerouting the sewer pipe line from the storm drain into the proper sewer system, which sucks cuz its usually the innocent owner of the house that pays for it. I did forget to add these details, just didnt want to bore everyone on this site.

Dude, You really want to be a fucking smart mouth? How about this, we can end this conversation now and call it your win if you want. Your right. Like I said before, i would rather want to make friends here then get into a physical confrontation if I ever run into people. I want to share my spots, as i would like others to share theirs with me. So why don't we end this back and forth non sense before it gets out of hand. So do we have a deal?

Really? Really?? If you want to make friends here you might want to stop making childish threats. BTW, I'm certain that when terapr0 refers to "experts" among the membership that he's referring to people like kowalski, mortimer, inventor77 etc - not to you.

lol. for starters, I dont need your permission to assume that I "won" this debate. you spewed false information and then childishly made some lame attempts at sounding smarter than you really are. from the moment you referred to storm sewers as "rain drains" it became rather apparent you were speaking about something you didn't fully understand. I'm willing to let this go, but thats mostly because I have more important things to do than get into arguments on the internet(s). You'll find that having such a bad attitude will do you little good when trying to make allies around here. I doubt you have any locations that arent already public knowledge, and that few people are willing to tolerate your childish temper. oh, and as others have implied, I was actually hinting at the various knowledgeable members like kowalski, inventor77, siologen, who know far more about drainage systems than me...Dont worry, I wouldn't dream of calling you an expert on at least that particular subject. Its pretty stupid that you'd imply our conversation here could possibly warrant a "physical confrontation", but at 6' 3" and 210lbs I'm hardly a pushover, and certainly not shook by your little threats. Do us all a favor and stop getting so worked up over what people say on the internet. chill the fuck out and perhaps you could actually learn a thing or two...

thanks for the shout out my man. you repeatedly state that you wish people would ignore me, but you keep acknowledging and trying to diss me, even when I'm not involved in the conversation. thanks for feeding my inflated ego AIR. I'll say it again, cause you either can't read or you are just too self involved...if you want someone to learn and abide by your codes, respect is much more effective than antagonism. if they are to be constantly dissed, even in unprovoked situations, what incentive do they have to follow these rules? the collective cause to preserve these 'secrets' for other explorers needn't be a factor if the other explorers are asshole douchebags to the newcomer, right?

| | | 2 cents - The FM's shouldn't have to give us incentive to not destroy these locations. We should have joined this group because we share the same intent. We enjoy exploring Abandoned places and we want others to enjoy as well. But I'm not taking jabs at anyone. I also don't agree with antagonizing...
As for this thread, it should probably be focused on Kodak 9 and not drains or heated discussions. Ok...rip me a new one.... [last edit 3/7/2011 8:37 PM by BeerBunny - edited 1 times]
