You should know that stretched tires in drifting are for breaking traction sooner because theres no sidewall flex. Either you are saying the same thing that im saying in a different way, or you are giving bad information.

i suppose it would depend on the tire and the driver's preference. i preferred a sticky tire with a fair amount of stretch. breaking traction was handled with driving technique, not with tire choice. tire choice, for me, was based upon performance while already sliding. i can get any car to break traction, but it takes a proper setup to keep it there. i really didnt like the feel of my car with unstretched sides (for lack of a better term) once going at speed.
my last car ran 17x10s on all four corners with 225's up front and 245's out back making 350whp. i tried several different setups, but prefered a grippy 245 over a mediocre 255. running a wider grippy tire caused too much push and understeer for my liking
