Thanks Hlywud, I drive by that area often and shake my head at the opportunity missed. Oh well, I'll just hitch a ride with Big Daddy D once he gets his time machine up and running again! ;p
|
No worries she'll be up and running soon. I'm just waiting on parts from japan.

| | | Posted by HI-LITE I like how they interpret the Go-Kart track into a map symbol as a whole bunch of random squiggly lines.
My prediction from such a track in simple algebra
http://i30.tinypic.com/14e9xs3.jpg just my 2 cents

Haha that looked like it hurt! I do remember the go-kart track being kinda brutal, but that was half the fun of it. I also remember alot of kids getting hurt because of "rough riders". Hmmmm maybe they had no money because of people threatening lawsuits? Go-karts are a fickle business.

| | | There's a still-active, though smaller version, of this kind of water park just a little eastward in Hampton. Worth visiting for your water frolicking needs. Sadly, they just closed for the season last Monday. http://www.cedarparkresort.ca/

And still standing but sadly, a sardine subdivision now. That was a really cool place to go. I enjoyed going around in the carts.
Gone for a while. Be back when I'm back. |

I honestly don't see that happening any time soon. The place is quite popular when it's open. But I understand your "eagerness", there's something creepily cool about an abandoned amusement park! ;)

| | | Posted by The Photomat I worked there for a few summers, probably 1985 and 1986. $3.25/hour, could smoke on the job...OMG, was I a carny kid?
|
Again, I know this is a long shot, but do you have any pics kickin' around when you worked there?! P.S. No, you weren't a carny kid, you were the kid we all envied for having a cool summer job! [last edit 9/21/2009 3:34 AM by PartyPooper - edited 1 times]

Nope, didn't have a camera back then, just lots of smokes! Yeah, it was a fun summer job! When I worked there, there were only two waterslides. When it rained and it was empty, we used to ride them, and "surf" the bottom part. Oh and we also used to surf in that video shuttle thing that simulated a roller coaster. I think it was called the SR2 Video Shuttle (nothing on google). I also have amazing memories of go-karting in the rain. We used to take the grass to cut each other off. Also the kiddy karts were speed governed, but you could manually override by pulling the throttle from behind the engine. They were fun to race. We would make extra cash at the bumper boats by picking up change at the bottom of the pool. I think it was the only job I ever had where I had to "punch in". I should probably remove that job from my resume now...

| | | I'm jealous cause you worked there. I've been looking around the web for more information about family kartways, but can't seem to find anything except those pictures i posted earlier. It's good that we talk about it though cause people without an idea of family kartways would of never known about it.
