Just fun

I'm now over 40 and have spent many past years visiting and shopping both the Crossroads Plaza and ZCMI (Zion's Cooperative Merchantile Institution) Mall. I've made hundreds of dollars of purchases in the mall shops over the years. I used to park the pickup truck on the roof of the building (you could do that) and take the elevator down from the roof to the top 4th floor in the plaza. It took many loops in the parking garage to get up to the roof. There were large skylight windows in which you could look clear down to the basement where the cafeteria / fast food shops were. It was a long way down. If you weren't sure of your directions, it was very easy to get lost in the plaza and could be difficult to find your way back to your vehicle in the parking garage. Every floor had a 4-way direction from the center of the plaza that contained all the escalators. From a teenager myself to taking my own teenage kids in the mall shops, it finally all comes to an end in August 2007. Kind of a sad end to a memorable era. But cool new things are coming.

There are plenty of links to news clips, photos, and You Tube clips of the area, the demolition, and the Key Bank Tower implosion. I'm posting these photos I took from my own last minute foot travels in the area. Enjoy and check out the links while they're good and fresh. - DrJav in Wonderland
