... I'm a rocket man too.
Damn, this set of photos is making me sad. Amusement parks are made for good times, not abandonment.

Everyone goes to the big Six Flags parks. Sanitized and corporate. There's still some cool little parks if you look. Out my way, we still got "Knoebel's" - cheap & fun.

Here in Montreal we've got La Ronde. Quite a unique place on an island in the middle of the St Lawrence river. Six Flags scooped it up a couple of years back, and every year since then it has lost a little bit of its character :-(

Santas Workshop in North Pole, NY is still an indy park. That has more character than the Great Escape.
Nirvy, I am sorry to hear that La Ronde was bought up by Six Flags... that does suck cuz La Ronde was awesome. Is Le Monstre still running?

Oh yeah, does it ever still run! And the view from the top... breathtaking!
Stupid Six Flags story time... The summer before last, they tried to instigate a new rule: no drinks or food to be brought in to La Ronde from outside. Hah! They quickly pulled the plug on that one after some serious backlash from the populace. The greedy bastards got some egg on their faces that year!
