Boarding up all those windows probably caused more damage than the vandals could. The building can't breathe. What kind of vandals do they expect ? Former Navy seals dropping in from Blackhawk helicopters?

Yep - I've seen it so many times... The building can't breathe and gets rot and the lack of sunlight promotes mould growth.
Further, a totally borded building allows anyone safe undetected passage inside - how is that good security ?

Saves them from all the stones getting thrown through the waiting glass, though. At least there's not alot of water damage from the open windows =/

They have the right idea at Bangour - they removed all the glass and installed Lexan panels over every window with six vent holes in them.
Perfect solution! And easier to work with than boards from our point of view!! ;-)

Good point. I think the reason they do this is not to deter infiltration, but to make the neighbors happy that they don't have to look at a derelict full of broken glass. At least with the color matched plywood, the building still looks nice. They did this in some of the outbuildings at Utica Lunatic hospital as well. It almost looks "bricked over".

Has anyone actually been in the Bonner Medical Building and taken some photos or video footage?

They shouldn't have bothered with the boards, it was a waste of time on their part...heh

Seals the buildiing; the reason you got soppeett vents on your house; and makes it less an eyesore; I can di that I geues. But ou building will go to hell all the quicker. This is the reason your attoc is not insulated. let the moisture go away.
