I hope it gets saved too but if they do they'll be basically building a replica. The plaster cielings and walls have pretty much disolved in about 50% of the building not to mention the squishy floors and the gutted plumbing.

Its highly doubtful it will be saved. The condition from its neglect near impossible to repair.

Shame.... I hate to see beautiful places like this get destroyed. I've seen buildings in this bad of shape that have been restored - but that is more the exception than the rule.

We didn't photograph the worst parts of it. It was a little scary walking in the upstairs theaters, one half would be squishy...the other half trustable. The walls were in awful shape too. It seemed like they had tried once before, but gave up in the long run. It is indeed a shame.

One of the reasons it's hard to restore old movie palaces is the fact that most of the original decoration was "fake" to begin with.
