Stairwells like this usually make great for a great photo subject. The key is to take a few shots of the same scene and compose each one a bit differently. Also when you shoot into light like that try setting your camera -1 stop and then correct the low brightness afterwards. Otherwise the light can sometimes overwhelm the details.
