  To add, that looks like someone used the wrong type of paint and now the paint is peeling away.

  There is no sign of rust what so ever, it could definitely be restored - the whole place could quite easily be restored. And yes, I did get that feeling too, someone used latex on this tin ceiling...

  Tell me they at least let an architectural salvage company come in before they tore it down. People pay tons for that kind of stuff.

  actually, they were supposed to store some of these "historical elements" until they built a cultural center where the hotel stood and try to integrate those into the new building. It's been over a year and yet, no more news of the cultural center. I don't think it will happen.
