Just found out that this was the location of the original dining hall.

Damn, I was wanting to believe they just built a random fireplace by the lake. 'Cause that would actually be really cool.

This was the original Dining Hall. When I worked at this camp, this was used to store (and for some years restore) the K-boat (a fairly rare sailboat). We often stored unused waterfront gear here (or stored stuff in here for the winter months when the camp was closed).

wow, the K-boat! I remember that! plus the boston whaler and the war canoes! this was the dining hall at least through 1968. It is at the base of the camp, along the lake. And the shore was lined with two sets of cabins for the campers. there used to be a small dock close to this dining hall. and behind it a bit uplake was the campfire area--overlooking the lake. When I was on the waterfront staff, for campfires, we would have three canoes at the shore of the lake under the campfire area and at the end of the campfire we would paddle out with lit torches--it looked really cool!

I remember as a camp counselor, that each of us would have a handcrafted token that was kept on the mantle of this fireplace. Scouts who were assigned KP duty for their table would take a token from the mantle and place it at the table. Then the counselor mmatching that token would sit at that table for that particular meal.
