The "goélette" Jean Yvan was built in 1958 in Petite-Rivière-St-François by the master carpenter Philippe Lavoie on behalf of the Captain François-Xavier Lavoie. It was acquired on July 2, 1975 by Transport M.L.M. of Ste-Foy. It was yielded on September 1, 1983 to the "Association des marins de la vallée du St-Laurent". On September 18, 1991, it was acquired by Expo Marine of St-Joseph-de-la-Rive under the management of the Captain Yvan Desgagnés. It is on exhibition at the "Musée maritime de St-Joseph-de-la-Rive" and its navigability certificate will fall due on February 29, 2004. Its registration file at Transport Canada is still open.

It is very nice to have boats like this one restored and available for people to visit.
