Maybe it's a drinking fountain ? Maybe he's a lost cataphile and he's putting a tract...or he just thinks that rock is nice and he kisses it ...or he is peeping through a hole....?

*puts her job suit on* Blarney Stone is a symbol in Ireland and was set upon the Blarmey Castle in Blarmey, in the Cork region of Ireland in the 15th century. People still go there to visit the castle and kiss the Blarney stone as this is suppose to give them great eloquence and ability to use flattery to get what they want.
According to the legend, the Blarney Stone is actually half of the Stone of Scone, which is involved with the great battle of Robert the Bruce (best known as Robert King of Scots, aka Braveheart ) from Stirling in Scotland.

It is believe the stone has got some magical powers and Kings and Queens were introduced to the trone by sitting on the stone. The stone was stolen some years ago by idiots and there is still a vague doubt about if that stone is actually THE stone. Some people believe the true Blarney stone was never returned and it now somewhere in a private garden in the UK with no one knowning they've got THE stone. Some people think the stone is still in Scotland (can't remember where now) and I remember visiting a place where I sat on it, with locals believing they are the ones with the real stone.

"Blarney!" became a popular expression to diplomatically say "bullshit" as the story goes that Queen Elizabeth 1st had correspondence with the Lord of Blarney about England occupying the Irish Land. Lord of Blarney basically told HM QE 1 to "go f**k herself* although he did use nicer terms. When asked what Lord of Blarney told her, HM QE 1 stated "He gave me a lot of Blarney".

So today, some Brits will use the expression like "I think you're giving me a lot of blarney" to basically express they fact they think they are getting screwed.

(Boy I hope I got that right cause if not, well, it's sad considering my situation ahahaha)

Oh and darn me. Of course, I'm mistaking Robert the Bruce and William Wallace. Considering a RAN to the top of the freakin Wallace Monument, you'd think I'd make the difference. So hmm. Robert the Bruce is NOT Braveheart. William Wallace, from Stirling, is Bravehart. Sweet gees, I'm mixed up in my Scottish history big time argh.

That's about it. I did not know the stone may have been stolen, or is that just another "blarney" story? lol

Turns out dude was having a drink. I found an 1859 picture of Victoria Square (Haymarket Square then) that shows this cairn at the corner of Saint-Antoine. The caption said it was a drinking fountain erected by the Montreal Temperance Society and carried the inscription "Fountain of Health". So there ya go.
