Down in the basement. The undertakers would park next to a door on the west side of the building and be escorted directly down there where the body would be signed out by security. I've done it a few times.

Rainman would you have an estimate on how often the morgue had bodies in it?

On average probably about 8 to 10 per year. Sometimes the Whitby General would run out of space in their morgue and would send a body or two over for temporary storage.

Yeah. Like I say, it was not a main stream morgue. The only times it was used was when Whitby Gen's was full and they needed the space.

The bodies I signed out were from natural causes. Heart attack, old age etc. The people who were murdered or committed suicide generally went to a main stream morgue where the autopsy would be carried out as part of the investigation. In the time I worked there, no autopsies were carried out in this morgue.
