  It could be a montage, in which case the main characters were probably posed. They were popular back in the day.

  I wouldn't think so, the shadow is perfect and there's even a thin part of the guy's shoe showing up at the buttom of the beam.

  I think you're right. I looked up the original pic, and it's described simply as a photograph. Pretty damned impressive for 1892.

  lol, they used to call that decade the "Gay 90's" so maybe they really are flying christmas trees and there probably was plenty of butt "kicking" going on. And maybe those are all perverts hanging out waiting for a little S & M after the snowshoe hurdles. Sounds like it was tradition to me, lol!
