Description
One last bit of Seaway weirdness and I'm done...

The main Seaway channel, shown here in red, runs south of Cornwall Island on its way to the 2 American locks. In the 1950s, the Canadian Seaway Authority was so keen on the idea of Cornwall getting in on the Seaway action, that they dredged and bouyed a 4 mile long, 27 foot deep channel right to the doorstep of the old Cornwall Canal (shown in green).

Nearly 50 years later, Cornwall still doesn't have a proper harbour. Surely it's just a coincidence that the president of the Seaway Authority at the time was a Cornwall boy...

  now that there is talk of replacing the seaway bridge again, the idea of a high level bridge is not on the table
