I'm pretty sure the locos they use are Alco RS1 and RS 3. Manufactured in the late 40s early 50s

I've seen a train yard with a lot of old stock, and 5m-high birch trees between them. One day, all the old stock was gone, but the birch trees were still there. A friend of mine said he watched the removal process on another yard, they just pull the cars over the trees without cutting them down, the threes just bend over... and ocasionally a car derails, but they were for scrap anyway.
