A restored old train station with associated rolling stock and a few small outbuildings. Highlights are the cars themselves, including historical ALCO diesel locomotives, rules instruction car, early passenger cars, baggage car and caboose. Set in the "industrial" part of Uxbridge (inasmuch as a small town like that can have an industrial area), there are some interesting old feed/seed buildings nearby (active) as well as a concrete plant behind.

Lots of busted up old rail cars (how they can claim to be so well refurbished is beyond me) as well as some engines. Tracks and switchgear. Couple of buildings, including the restored and very active station.

In 1986, a dream began to develope of operating a tourist train from Stouffville to Blackwater, through Uxbridge. The "York-Durham Railway" project began to form in August 1987. In September 1987 further progress was made when the first post office box was opened in Stouffville. From 1987 to 1990, communication between the YDR and Canadian National continued. Incorporated in 1990 as a non-profit organization and granted charitable status in 1991, the association began operating a tourist train between Stouffville and Uxbridge on one of the most picturesque routes in Ontario in the fall of 1996. Prior to this the York-Durham Heritage Railway Association was founded in 1986 with the objectives to purchase, restore, and preserve railway equipment and buildings, and develop an historical railway setting. This would then encourage tourism in the Regional Municipalities of York and Durham. Fine old rolling stock was acquired and refurbished and the historic station at Uxbridge has been restored to its original glory by a team of volunteers. The Township has completed the restoration work on the station and the YDHR has its railway museum completed in the station. The Uxbridge station serves as the northern terminus for the railway. The YDHR has accumulated three locomotives, one caboose, five passenger cars, one boxcar, two baggage cars and one flatcar.

Despite it looking like the whole things is not running, it seems to be, with schedules posted for 2005 in the station window. I know that it stopped running for a while a few years back, but it seems to be on track again and likely will continue for the foreseeable future.
