it's unique in the world! Called "Chocolate River" for obvious reason. Very very muddy. It's easy to get stuck in it... lots of animal gets stuck in it every year (dolphins, mooses, name it). The sedimentary soil is very thick and it's combined with the biggest tides in the world (Bay of Fundy). It's protected under the law and you're not supposed to walk/swin/play in it. Between you and me, you'd probably get stuck anyway... :(

Thanks for the explanation, maZe. Even if it is just sediment, I don't think I'll be dropping my line in this particular river anytime soon. Yuck!
Nice batch o' pics from the Gypsum Silos, BTW. I enjoyed that gallery a lot.
