History
Built in 1874, believed to be the oldest extant brick school in Colorado. The design details and expense that went into this two-story, Italianate style building proved to the world that this mining town had moved from crude mining camp to cultural center. The school is one of only two pre-1880 masonry schools remaining in Colorado. The building served the community as a school until at least 1945.
Today it operates as the Georgetown Heritage and Cultural Arts Center.
