This building consists of three or four buildings all connected and there are huge concrete bays where water was once held to be treated. It can be kind of dangerous if special attention is not paid to balance because there are often 15-20 foot drops with no guard rails. There is broken glass everywhere you will step and many rusted and broken rails. There is alot of stuff here though and it is all pretty interesting. Explorers so far Punk_Phoenix, Red Rabbit, LongHorn, Proxy, Servo, and Irish. Also, 2 guests w/ Punk_Phoenix, LongHorn and Proxy. Simian, BlackOmegaX, Whitedog, originalquocky, Mazatec, Li, and binaryZero. Update: Railtech & pals visited years ago.... Be sure to try turning random valves, you never know which one will cause liquid to flow!!!

rust water occational home for the homeless/bums
This place is full of old cement tanks that water used to be held and treated in. It is very interesting to see it all. Plus there are many old books and things left in the building. Update: I've seen evidence of homeless/bums living here twice, with one time looking like it was "active" or "occupied", so be on the lookout. Additionally-- --There is a lot of neat stuff in this area. There is a little pump house between the river & the new treatment plant, where the pump water under the river from the city reservoirs (Lakes Tuscalooas, Harris, & Nicol). Also, if you find the current treatment plant (on north side of Jack Warner Parkway/River Road), there appears to be another ABANDONED treatment plant on the south side of Jack Warner Parkway/River Road. Bryce Hospital's cemetaries (3 distinct cemetarys) are also in this vicinity. -- Railtech

Update: I belive this was the old riverview filter plant. The cities first water plant and it used to take water directly from the river before several dams were built in the area. There's a link to a pdf on the history of Tuscaloosa's water system in the link section. You can read more about it there. I originally thought this was "Filter Plant South" because it was closed in 84' and there are lots of things from 84' in this location. If this is the Riverview filter plant it was abandoned in 97' according to the pdf. The city has 1,742 dollars in it's budget for this plant for 2004, for what I have no idea, perhaps for new fencing. RR
