Have been short on cash lately, so don't have bikes for me and the wife yet. Is anybody else also doing this on foot?

You may be on your own Vectored. I'm pretty sure this is an all bike event but if anyone else would rather go on foot, please chime in so we have a better idea of the situation. If worse comes to worse, sell the kids and rent a bike.

You can rent a bike from "Golden Gate Park Bike & Skate" on Fulton Street in San Francisco. $25 per day for a mountain bike, not bad at all. Rent it, shove it in your car, head to Tiburon or leave from SF's pier.

I will keep an eye on the weather. If you have a waterproof windbreaker type jacket I recommend you bring it...I know I will. A couple zip lock and trash bags for stowing items would not hurt either. If the weather is a bit dodgy its an even better excuse to "seek shelter" in an old building. It may keep the crowds down as well. Think positive and come prepared.

Just got back in town!! I am glad to see this trip is still goon strong!! I am curious - has anyone ever taken the ferries from Sf to the island before? do they end up at the same cove thAt the Tiboron and Sausolito ferries do? I usually take the Tiboron ferries however SF is closer and would be more inclined to take thanone if it goes to the same port. I kindof hope the weather is cool/ foggy or misty as stated above. It would be better than the heat lol. Definitely will be a fun trip can't wait!

Same. But they do have different departure & arrival times.

The question is not when are we gonna stop, It's who's gonna stop us?

Just curious which ferry line most of you plan on taking, SF or Tiburon?

SF would be easier for me to get to, but according to the time charts its an hour long ride from pier 41 to the AI dock

I am taking the ferry from Tiburon as it will allow me an extra hour of exploring and not being stuck on the ferry.

Its a trade-off. You'll have to leave the island earlier if you intend to take the San Fran ferry.

You could always stay late, take the Tiburon ferry and bike back to your car in the city as well.

The event did not go as expected. We were tailed continuously by the park rangers, at one point by two vans and a truck. I did manage to get a few pictures.

Did they follow you around b/c they caught you inside a restricted area, or b/c the weather was not ideal and you guys were the only large group of visitors?

We were followed from the get go. The ranger went up the hill and parked by the old hospital (the first site we were going to visit) and it continued like this for the whole day. I have a feeling the UER threads are being monitored more than usual lately, so if anyone has plans to go some place keep the dates and specifics to yourself and do not make any of that info public.

I guess we scored by going a week early. I'll post my pics up somewhere a bit more private if anyone wants to see.

I believe we interrupted Mr. Oh-hai during his noon smoke break. I saw him one or two other times during the day.
