It should be known to all that if you bring your own bike they will only charge you $1, but if you rent a bike from the Tiburon Ferry its $35 for the entire day or $10/hour which is exceptionally expensive in my opinion. http://www.flickr....rescueme1060/sets/

The going rate for a bike rentals in the area is between $45 and $65 dollars and up. I shopped around and recommend the deal on the island if you don't own a bike. I am bringing my own bike of course and I assume most other folks will too.

Decrepitude, if you've got a spare I can borrow... ? Otherwise I may have to go hunt one down on Craigslist in the next couple weeks and figure out how to store it.
I'm totally down for the event. My wife also is wanting to come along for this one. Might be an interesting experience for her.
I hope the missile bunker is still accessible. That'd be too insanely cool. Honesty may be the best policy, but it's important to remember that apparently, by elimination, dishonesty is the second-best policy. -George Carlin (1937 - 2008)

I don't have an extra at the moment. The only one I have I managed to mangle the rear derailer on. The damn bike goes all the way to IM city and back with zombiemeat on it and I completely ruin the derailer on the way back from the store two blocks away...LOL. Just rent one dude.

Angel island is very hilly. Be prepared for a lot of uphill on your bike. You definitely need a bike with gears. The question is not when are we gonna stop, It's who's gonna stop us?

Yeah I calculated out about 700+ feet of climbing (that is not including side trips and such). Luckily its spread out over about 5 miles of riding but geared bikes are a must. The lower geared it is the more comfortable you will be. Yer dads non-geared beach cruiser wont cut it on this trip unless you are a bad-ass or ride regularly.
If you don't feel that comfortable on bikes please bring your helmet as well. - d

Definitely put myself as attending this. Thank you decrepitude for setting this up. I wasn't sure how to lol. The 16'th is perfect. I will be bringing the gf and both of us will have bikes as well. As for parking _ is it worth discussing meeting up somewhere in marin and then carpooling to the paid parking? If someone has a large truck that could work - or we could all just meet on the island as you say in the event. Just throwin the idea out I can't wait to go back there. Definitely will be fun.
Also, the suggestion about the bring your own food and water is a good idea.. they are VERY pricey there.. but definitely have some good beer if you crave one after the long day UE'ing.

Was talking it over with my wife. We'll be going to look for a pair of bikes. Definitely no beach cruiser. Not necessarily a full mountain bike as I don't need the suspension, but definitely geared. It'll give us something better to do on the weekends and evenings too. I left this up to the individual because it seemed like an ass-load of trouble to try to organize the meeting spot anywhere else but the island. - d

So Ive came up with a small list of some of the main areas of interest for UEing and these are just outlines of the island - nothing solid that we have to follow.
I have checked out a the areas of the immigration center as well as the base living areas and nike site. I never went to the west side of the island to explore the place that looks like housing. So I can't tell for sure if that is what it is.

edit: spellcheck
We pride ourselves on being explorers, so I would think finding a parking place wouldn't be the most difficult part of this event...sheesh.

I may actually be in your neck of the woods around this date. I met Vectored Approach when he came through town here in Arizona. It would be cool to meet some of you all and see this place. Hopefully it works out! Blah Blah Blah. Shut up and open the damn door. "It's ok Officer, I watch a lot of cop shows on tv, so i am practically one of you guys." - sadly, that didn't work. http://www.flickr.com/photos/jonno23/ All my photos suck.

Thanks for taking the time to do this Damann. Perhaps Tunnelbug will have some other suggestions for the trip seeing as he has done an overnighter here and probably knows a good deal of places to visit as well. I'll send him a PM.
