I think we should do one more of these because so many people missed the first one. Anyone down?

If you're talking about a Bay Area meet-up I'm down.

Yep Bay area. When should we do it though? Do we want short notice or long notice?

Why not both? I'm planning to do a lot of exploring for the next couple of weeks so I'm down for pretty much anything, anywhere, anytime -- then the boss comes back from his vacation and it's back to the daily, soul drinking grind of life... until he goes away again in November!

Sounds good, lets see if anyone else is interested. Before we make the next step. Anyone have any opinions ? BTW, I am not really an expert in regards to this, but I can make shit happen.

I haven't yet been to any place that is both reasonably convenient and worth the trip. So far it's either been one or the other.

Byron would be cool to do as a group but even if everyone's willing to make the trip, the logistics would be a little hard. There is no inconspicuous parking for at least a mile, so more than one car parked on the shoulder might raise suspicion. And then there's the airport with all the pilots going, 'wtf are all those people doing?' if there's more than a handful of us.

That said I'm going to a few places this weekend to see what's going on and maybe I'll find something worthwhile. Other members PM'd me about some other places to check out so I'm sure they'll all have some ideas about where would be a good spot.

Ha! But yeah, so far this is just two newbies trying to orchestrate a group outing. This should be an interesting thread.

I was at the previous Meet n' Greet. Good times were had by all, and we hit up some really good stuff. Gonna be hard to match, but I'm down for it if I can fit it into my schedule.

Pick a general area to explore, and be open to suggestions by those experienced with the area. Not much down here in the South Valley to recommend, but Oakland area (turf of PoiToi and Whiptats) is pretty ripe.

Anybody at anytime is welcome to put their own UE event together. As long as you have some decent locations that a group can visit, ur set. If you make it interesting enough, others will come. I am awaiting ur event.

Right on, we spontaneously went out, but decided that we would put something together more long term. Any suggestions anyone?

I'm down. I'm from the East Bay, and can provide transportation and a high rez camera. I'll do Byron with somebody, or other places I haven't yet visited.

Nice ideas for some exploring. I should make it to the east bay one. If anybody is along my route, I offer rides. Of course, gas money assistance is appreciated.

For the one at New Idria, any chance the group can pick me up on the way thru Morgan Hill? I can meet basically right at the freeway. It'd save me a 30 minute drive the opposite direction out to Milpitas. In return I offer gas money assistance.

Digging around on Google Earth and USGS Topo Maps, and I've noticed there are a lot of mines in the area of New Idria. Some I cannot see from the aerials (no visible tailings piles), others are fairly obvious. Anybody have experience with any of the mines in the vicinity? Any other mines worth poking our heads into when we're done having our way in New Idria?

I intend to bring along a map with satellite image with the USGS maps overlayed on it (assuming I can make it, have to work out somewhere to ditch the 4yo for the day since wife may be out of town).

I sit in an office all day. I seriously do not have the stamina to chase his butt all over the place and keep him safe.

So... who all is going this Saturday, and do they have a spare seat for me (pickup in Morgan Hill right off the freeway)? I offer help with gas money.
