| | | Hey I thinking about when your in a drain and when you want to see where this manhole exits on the surface. If there's periscopes that you can buy small enough to fit through the 4 hole manholes. Because I'd rather not have a chevy runover my face as I poke out.

I've been packing one myself recently. It's enough to get a good read on if you're seeing grass or sidewalk next to the manhole or if you're in the asphalt road. However, you can't see that great unless you really take your time. The important part is to make sure that you align the mirror so that if it does get run over by a car the handle of it doesn't get forced down the hole and into your eye-socket or face. Always keep it bent so that the handle of the mirror is next to your face, not pointed at it.

I almost messed up a shoulder bad when opening from underneath. I somehow pushed the cover up but it awkwardly flipped over while trying to push it aside and bent my shoulder back in a way that it normally doesn't bend. I was sore for days and feared I tore something. The best way is typically pushing it up a few inches to clear the top of the road/sidewalk/ground and then slide it away from you. Trying to do some commando flipping the cover over off the hole from underneath may not be wise. As for other dangers. Don't get by a car or chance it. You could die a nasty death.

| | | door viewer may help in some instances... but you ll have to put your eye really close to see with it. Or you can attach it to a small point and shoot cam if it has a manual mode. I also tried the mirror idea, but nothing so far i found to be practical enough=(

You of all people should know the best way to clear a room is to toss a grenade in first. But there should be small periscopes out there to fit through cover holes

| | | i have something similar to this that i use at work. these are only good for looking at small objects up close. you can't really use them to just 'look' around the corner as their focus isnt set up for normal viewing.
these work a bit better as theyre more of a viewer than a camera. MUCH cheaper and WAY lighter. you actually look into it like a periscope and can adjust the focus point a bit better. still though, i dont think you can focus it out far enough to see surrounding areas
