Looking at the dates and my current finances, I hate to say this, but I don't think I'll be able to make it this time around. Unless anyone wants to help me get down there (and I pay them back at a later time), it's just not going to happen.
If this was going to be in the fall time, then yes. But scheduling this at such a short notice, and not really planning for it to happen, I just can't commit to this now. Living and meeting my monthly bills is my first priority right now.

Already planning NOCOPEX '10 for this coming fall. Will cover two weekends, with places in northern and central CA areas.
But, yeah, unless you do something with it, then yeah, no go.

Agreed. What's your plan for locations? I can't do the overnight mine trip for you guys anymore unless you want to go 3 hrs. The local crowd might get more active if you give an agenda.

Ok, I am confused. The Hotel poll is still up along with the event and what looks like a separate meet and greet in Long Beach. then there is Socopex '10 in July. I am prepared to take the weekend of January 15-17 off so it would be awesome to know what is going on so I don't recreate an indie movie moment and show up under the uer sign at the station looking all sad and lonely as the camera pans to show everyone walking by me to the sounds of an Eliot Smith song.

Someone just needs to do it, pick the dates, truly commit to them, and whether or not individuals can or can not show on those dates, as much as it would rock to have them there, can't be reason to call it off. When dates are picked and people are working their schedules to make it happen and dates get bumped and rescheduled it makes everyone reluctant to get on board again. That said, now that I'm living down here as a very recent transplant to Los Angeles, I'm happy to help out. I don't think I'd make a good main point person for the simple reason I don't know SoCal for shit yet, but event planning is something I'm good at.
CONFUSION: Yeah I was confused by this too - but it appears that Socopex has been rescheduled for sometime this Summer and that our lead organizer for it didn't want the dates to totally go to waste having done the poll and everything, so a SoCal Meet and Greet has been scheduled in it's place. Letting us know that here so I didn't have to figure it out would've been good, but there ya have it.
SOCAL MEET & GREET: I've committed myself to go to the SoCal Meet and Greet on Friday, January 15th, but got some questions. 1) What's the deal with Terminal Island security related to those who have ixnayed their attendance because of it. PMoradi, you say you've been there many times without incident and I'm pretty sure I've seen your pics from there before, but enquiring minds want to know. 2) Re: "possible draining in Irvine" a heads up on what gear if any is needed for the drain in question would rock. Might be none, but be only given to those attending, etc, but more info please.

I will still be around if you need help, but I thought it'd be better to have someone dedicated and local to coordinate this event.
Depending on my college schedule for July, I may or may not go to the official SOCOPEX event, but it is an "Event Star" event that you don't want to miss out. If my memory serves me correctly, they have some amazing sites and locations that they'll be taking you to.
Hopefully, I'll see y'all there!
