Houses .. defence land. South Australia

There are a few streets of boarded up houses in Salisbury .. south australia, they have fenced off the roads to keep people out, and posted signs saying its commonwealth of australia department of defence land. My mum says she thinks they intend to tear them all down and build new lodgings for the employees. Sure wish I could get in there. Im not too handy with google earth or pics for that matter, but google earth says the streets are at "abandoned houses" lat=-34.7470560288, lon=138.639227723 .. if that means anything to anyone ? I only have a few pics taken outside of the fence.. Sorry they arent any good, it was getting late and they were taken on my camera phone.

I wouldnt think so... They have sectioned off a huge area around there, I went around the back of the fenced off areas and it looks like they are bulldozing lots of buildings.. so far though the houses are all intact. Its so odd to see streets fenced off, with what looks like livable houses there, all sitting empty. Every time I go up to see my mum I always drive past them, they fascinate me.. I want in there badly..oh so badly.

The fences even have barbed wire on them. That's really weird. They REALLY don't want you going in there. How long have they been abandoned?

Around 6 months or so.. they back up onto a public golf course, and you can see that some people have gotten in there, on a few of the garages there's graffiti. I'm wondering if I went into the golf course if I could get through a back fence somehow, but even on the back fences, they have those notices posted. One day when I don't have my boys with me *they're 6 and 7 and not quiet or stealthy * I'm going to go in and see if there is any way in. I adore abandoned houses

there is navy land here with the same current situation, wire fencing, old houses.....nothing happening - the houses themselves, here at least, are empty and featureless but it does make for an odd sight

hopefully the ones near your mums place are much better

I went up there over the weekend, and found that if I went in through the road that leads to the golf course, it actually lets me access the street that some of the houses are on. There's a huge fence there, right across the middle of the road, and I can see where people have gotten in, and would have done the same, except for all the golfers walking and riding past on their little buggy's.. damn them.. so now I just have to pick a good time.. a friend suggested early in the morning before the golfers start, but gee... its like an hour drive away from where I live... I dont like early mornings

ha ha ha... with two kids I dont really have that option... unless their dad decides to do a nice thing and have them overnight.. then I could make it a late late night I really do want to get in there though, so it looks like the early morning thing is gonna have to do

just walk in, it's likely the golfers could care less....and equally the law

how old are your kids ? if five or older take them with you, tell people your just retreiving a toy thrown over the fence or something. ( peg a toy over the fence first )

I was out today and came across another abandoned house, it was so odd to see it too, its surrounded by newer homes, just sitting there all on its lonesome. I took a quick peek around it, it has a small porch on the front , and the ceiling of that has a huge hole in it, and a window toward the back of the house has grass growing on the inside of it, so my guess is its been this way for quite a while, the porch also had some.. "interesting" wallpaper.. I took a few dodgy shots on my cellphone so here they are.. Im going to see if I can get more pics of this one over the weekeend too.. its also a lot closer to home.1.

No, not a lot of places are sided like that, thats why it was so odd to see.. theres all these new homes on either side of it, a church and kindergarten across the road from it.. and theres this.. dinosaur.. of a house the windows were really dirty too, it was pretty much impossible to see inside of the house... but maybe the back door is open or something and i can try and get in over the weekend.. without the neighbours noticing... wish me luck

Cool. I like yr second set of pics of the abandoned place - looks haunted. So were you quick enough to get a look into Victoria Park racecourse ? I was tooooo slow. Went past today and it was in the middle of crashing down. Demolished.

You may think you can fly.....but you'd better not try it.
