I've got room for one, or maybe two, coming down from Santa Barbara.

Sigh... I forgot my boyfriend's birthday is that weekend in March. We are having twelve straight days of partying, drinking, and going random places, ending that Sunday. No way am I going to be up for Death Valley with all of that.

So.... Start point for the trip?????? South valley or north valley? I'm partial to the south end myself... it seems like there is a lot more stuff to see. I think it would be awesome if we camped at Briggs camp for a night! The next day we could do the loop up and over Rogers pass (I think thats its name) down the canyon to the Radcliffe and worldbeater (A huge complex... there are a couple of intact ladders. ) Explore the millworks of Clair Camp, and then head north? Or we could go south, run goler and stay at the Geologist's cabin / the complex just south of there.

Just throwing out ideas!

Well if you like the southern part of the valley, lets hit that up. It seems like people just want a solid plan, and they will come. It sounds like you have some pretty firm ideas on what you would like to do. Say you were planning the entire trip for the group, where would you meet on Friday night, and take the group the rest of the 2 days?

RGS is traveling the states via rail and plane.... I don't know how often he is checking the web. Just a heads up cause he's gone for a couple weeks.

I personally think Gold Mountain (North Eastern park boundary in Nevada) would be a great place to explore some mines... being that it is not part of DV Nat Park so the mines haven't been closed or blocked off.

It really depends on whether or not people are up for backcountry camping.... I know RGS, JeepXJ and myself thrive off of it so don't worry about us. We find it hard to pay to camp somewheres.

I agree - paying for camping is lame....unless you are forced to by where you are visiting.

What other kind of camping could we possibly do other than backcountry? I thought that was implied by "Death Valley" hehehe

Did we ever firm up a date? It isn't snowing for shit here, and the ski run may not open. I just might be down for this trip yet.....

UPDATE:

Rapcw and i are collaborating on locations for the weekend. Pretty soon we will have a agenda to propose to everyone, possibly by the end of next week. Rapcw will not be able to make the trip, but he is a priceless resource.

I was in Death Vally just the other weekend. Was great.

I also stopped by Darwin for just half an hour. Has anyone spend a while there? Would that be a good place to revisit?
