| | I'm a newb...how do I start? < on 11/9/2007 12:23 AM >
| | | I'm new to UE. I've done a few UE-ish things in the past (sneaking around big buildings where there are big parties going on, walking in the woods and checking out old houses, et cetera) but I'm not sure how to just...go to a random place and start poking around. How do I get there? How long should I stay? What do I do? My main problem is transportation (such as where to leave a car or bike while I'm poking around inside), but any tips are good to know. Thanks.

Why does he need a camera? Oh right, how else will he get his net-cred up?!?! Horror Show: 'How do I get there? How long should I stay? What do I do?' I suspect this isn't the hobby for you. Perhaps something with clearly defined goals and processes is a better choice. Have you tried team sports? I'm sure the team coach is more than willing to tell you what, how, and when to do everything. [last edit 11/9/2007 8:39 AM by dsankt - edited 1 times]

mutantMandias may cause dizziness, sexual nightmares, and sleep crime. ++++ mutantMandias has to return some videotapes ++++ Do not taunt mutantMandias mutantMandias is something more than human, more than a computer. mutantMandias is a murderously intelligent, sensually self-programmed, non-being |

If you look like this you are half way there. & Nobody will know what you are up to. Also B&E is a bad way to start.

>How do I get there? Drive, Walk, Ride, whatever. >How long should I stay As long as you feel comfortable >What do I do Look around and marvel at the architecture, ponder on the history, and find cool shit. As for transportation, bikes are very nice for hiding, or just locking them up to a pole or something really won't draw any suspicion As for a car, just park it wherever you feel comfortable parking it while you are exploring. Park it some where inconspicuous. Sure, it can seem odd at first, but it ain't rocket science. Seems like you've already got the bug- just need to have a good exploring experience.

| | | get off this website and go explore something. urban.exploration--pretty self explanatory--this site exists ONLY for the following reasons: -dick comparing photowhore threads -three hundred page long threads on ethics that go in complete circles. -enormous (and largely ridiculous) gear threads and thats about it. seriously though, just go find something that interests you, camera or no, and check it out. keep your head about you and dont do anything stupid. bring a flashlight, some water, and maybe a mask if you think youll need it--and a camera if thats your bag. get offline, while you still can. blacklines

Yet another memorable post... *flushes john* Horror show, read mistakes others have made here, and try not to repeat them. Try to get permission if the site isn't truly abandoned, and don't B&E to gain entry. Take your time, there's no rush. A interesting stretch of abandoned RR tracks can make for a fine UE outing. Don't feel the need to conform to what everyone else explores here, explore what you like. Share your experience without damaging the site by using digression in what you show and info you release.
