hey, I found this on a website and was curious if it still exists? or has been demolished? The photos are from 2003.
I know about the new Oakland Amtrack station, but this one seems to be in a different location than the new station.
It looks really really cool. Any info would be appreciated..i'd love to go explore this area

-also note that this site has links to photos of other noteworthy areas in the bay area to explore.

Yes, Carnation has got some really good grafitti, multiple warehouses, 3 story office (?), a squatter & a junk pile. I just noticed that the front door that was open has been boarded over. For my second trip there, I found the guy that sleeps there re-opened the fence, cool.

I've also been to the Amtrak station too, but only partially. It took me a really long time to figure out how to get to it without walking miles. I found out you could just park right at the residential hotel next door; convenient... My trip inside went like I couldn't get into the main lobby like you see in the pictures (can you see them?). I did go on the tracks and I did look inside the lobby from the second floor tracks. Uh, there's some guy taking photo's with a pro setup (lights cables, backdrops, etc). I wonder what he thought all the noise was... I did almost get in, through the front door that he went through, but I chickened down!! I did go into the add-on kitchen area, which had a lot of cooking stuff. There was a passage way from the kitchen to the lobby, but it looks like they used railroad ties to board the opening.

At Grand and Mandela, there's a place that used to be "Pacific Pipe Company". They have an alarm but I wouldn't know about that except it freaked me the fskc out when it went off. Stay away from the garage doors, they got motioin sensors. The power is on, the refrigerator is on, and so is the alarm, heh. There is about 1 grafitti I noticed, and it was on the outside. The inside had a currently registered Jeep, but I doubt it would run and a pile of furniture in an actual jumble, as if dumped from a dumptruck. (oh yeah, the McAfee Colliseum Homebase has a jeep too - it's on Hegenberger).

Success!
I made it into the Amtrak station last night.
Was able to get many photos and videos.

Yes, i did walk around quite a bit to get in...
I found a round about way to get in through several holes in several fences.

I was actually most scared of any possible guard dogs in the neighboring junk yard... appartently there was no guard dog. Just something that I feared!

In any case, I think I must have got lucky as the door to get into the train depot was unlocked... the lock on the end of the chain was dangling... on my way out I thought to check that lock, the lock was a 4-digit numbered combo lock. It was left on the combo. Someone forgot to lock the door, as well as shuffle the combo. After I was totally out of the area I went back to my car and figured at this point I was already out, so there would be nothing wrong.. no crime in fiddling with the main lock on the main gate. I had a hunch that lock may have the same combo as the one to get inside the depot building. It did!! So I unlocked it quickly, opened the gate and walked in just a few feet to snap a few quick photos of the outside of the building. I figured if anyone saw me snapping a few photos at several feet within the entrance of the gate I'd just say I found it open and walked in to snap a few photos... The lock obviously wasn't cut, so they'd have to believe that someone left if opened and I just happened to wander by and step in...

I locked the gate on my way out...

There were some people that would occasionally walk around the neighborhood... but they didn't see me, nor did I think they'd care. The building doesn't seem to be alarmed, ...I did notice some janitorial supplies around the building that looked pretty fresh. My guess is that someone was doing some cleaning or something and left the train depot and lock unlocked accidentally?

here are a few of the photos...

George Lucas Ranch, hell I don't care as long as its a challenge. Fuck I just thought about it! The BART TUBE! Or the lower muni lines. Fuck this sightseeing crap, I know you two got some balls, what do you think?

thanks code_finder!

yep, the drive to see these places is too much to just sit around and look at others photos!

i am game to get together sometime.

I am going out of town for 3 weeks in September, but will be back at the end of the month.

Let's try to plan a day in October?

i still haven't fully explored Skaggs Island, could start with that? SF underground sounds cool also? oh, the abandoned army hospital in the Presidio... have you been inside? The day I went to explore it, the firedepartment was doing some training, so I had to call the trip off... still want to go in though?

I know there would be lots to explore with... if you lived a good 5,000km northeast...

The hospital in the Presidio was a big UE site around here for a long time. They've added security, so it's become harder to get in. It's a really cool UE though.

BTW: I too am interested in UEing the MUNI tunnels, or any other cool location (George Lucas ranch?)

yes that was a rolls in the neighboring junk yard!!! The body looked pretty good, I figure if the owner restored it, they might not need to run a junk yard anymore!

That's ashame about the presidio hospital being difficult to get into... I thought it was just the main stairwell in the center of the hospital that was alarmed?

There are other places alarmed too (read the thread about it to see comments). Also, a lot more windows are boarded up than used to be.
