Read these. They're great articles with more insight than anyone on the UER forums has.

Damnit, I was about to give it a shot on this picture but I can't find the option. Either Photoshop CS doesn't have it or the option is somewhere else.

This is one of my favorite shots but it also probably has more lens distortion than any picture I've ever taken. It's practically a fisheye.

BTW, sorry to OP--I don't mean to hijack your thread.

Yeah, I wasn't even touching that comment.

I'm still trying to figure out what previously banned member randomesqeu is.

Weirdling, what version of shop do you have?

Try filter->distort->lens correction

Still, more insight than most here. And... I'm not a previous banned member. At least, I don't think...

UER photography forum is a great place for misguided information though.

I've just got CS. I don't even have a noise reduction filter so I'm assuming the version might be older than lens correction. These are my options [and yes I enjoy my tacky cursors :p]

Yokes, I *believe* cs3 was the first version to offer it but I'm not positive on that.

Damned! Well at least, until I find an option, I have an excuse for my sexy curves.

I really want to get better at this, I definitely notice my potential for improvement simply in how the pictures have changed over time. Looking back shows the potential to move forward, I decided to make a timeline that contains what I find to be the best photo from each explore. Over 133 pictures and one year they go from God awful to pretty decent.

I need to learn more about aperture, and honestly I don't understand as well as I'd like to what it really is.

Well fuck you too... I'm not sure how I feel about it maybe if it were in black and white? Otherwise it is okay.

I wasn't sure, but Google seems to say that it was in CS2.

Man, the image degradation there is pretty much a form of decay in itself, lol. Anyways, it definitely looks exponentially more realistic, at first I was kinda digging on how the warped view was obscure and artsy. Now I'm finding you can only get away with that feeling so many times before it becomes a problem to be corrected and if I'd like to improve I should get on that.

As for aperture, I'm looking to learn it with the camera itself first. Honestly I didn't know there was an editing method...as for use with the camera, does it primarily help the focal point or the lighting as well? No matter how accurate I get my shutter speeds I find there's something I'm missing. They're almost always too dark or they start to blur when properly lit, there's hardly a middle ground. Does learning my apertures help?

aperture is an editing suite from apple akin to lightroom.
its not a technique, however the use of the cameras aperture is to some degree.

I stopped relying on his advice & reviews when I read the section on his website that stated tripods are no longer needed these days because most cameras and lenses have some sort of image stabilization built in. I'm not sure about you guys but all my shots are definitely at least 1/4s or faster in low light situations, especially when using low ISO speeds.

Well at least I'm not totally crazy, although Yokes, I did take what you said to heart. I just wasn't seeing it from the angle that you are. Thanks.

(I still have a sneaky suspicion that adding and removing whole objects is going a bit far though. Why don't you just bust out photoshop and create the dang picture from the ground up so it can be perfect in every way? skip the camera!)

I used to care a lot more about digital editing, and tried to draw distinctions between what is and what isn't photography (most notably HDR). After listening to many photographers that I respect and learning more about the art of photography, though, I came to appreciate that I was on the wrong side of the argument. And that life is too short for irrelevant arguments about photographic editing nuances.
