IMO: there are better things to climb on.

I think its hilarious that people feel the need to point out that climbing something like this is risky. NO SHIT. its tall. it hangs out over a busy road. its illegal. These are things that are obvious. I can understand wanting to warn people about hidden dangers (H2S in a sewer, RF radiation on certain kinds of towers) because these things arent immediately apparent. This is just silly. What we do is risky, some of us take more risk than others, but all of us (should) have the common sense to know a blatant risk when we see one and from there, its really up to the individual.

That way I won't feel guilty laughing my ass off if he gets whacked.
They use cherry pickers to hang those and don't walk on the round tubes as the top tube keeps you off center with the bottom one.

Once up there, then what? Little to gain by doing it. A building or tunnel be more fun.

Your security measures were inadequate.
How unfortunate for you.

I'd say if you find one that looks fun, go climb it. I climbed one once. It had a ladder on the side and a catwalk in front and behind the sign. It's a quick climb, you look around and say neat and come back down. Then you will have it out of your system.

We were parked in a parking lot next to the sign and no where near a freeway exit. The base of the sign was on the opposite side of a wall so if a cop spotted us, all we had to do was climb down and drive off.

I think everyone is just being too whiny. Go climb one, quench your curiosity and move on to the next thing.
