| | | I absolutely thought it was a photo at first glance. Once you know its CG you can start to spot a few things. This is impressive. Since this is the critique section, I guess I've got to add some constructive criticism. So, while this is all very impressive because it is in fact, not real, If it was an actual UE photo I would have to say it is a somewhat boring photo as far as subject goes.

| | | Really really good work! My brother in law worked as a 3d artist for ubisoft, now he's at bioware and hearing his stories made me realize how most people working in that field spend huge amount of time checking sites like UER but have never set foot in an abandoned building themselves. It definitely is a good thing that you're in this hobby and please, keep contributing with great stuff like this!

As far as I know he wasn't working there when Uru got out. Ubisoft is a freaking factory though, they have about 2000 people working in their Montreal studio alone.

| | | Posted by Relocate dead_light - Appreciate it! I use Maya and Photoshop, render with MentalRay. It is a finished project, but it was just for fun. What made you stop 3D?
|
Sweet! Are you going to / are working on more? I stopped after I got into doing photography work. I found the scenes I wanted to make were easier to create in real-life than spending hundreds of hours in front of the computer. Not that it's a bad thing to do, I was a web developer in college, but man the hours went by. And for what I wanted to do, computers weren't up to grade. I think the longest render I had was two and a half weeks long. Keep doing great work. I'd love to see more of it on here.

| | | Thanks a bunch guys! I have heard Ubisoft is a sweat shop as well shadowbot - thanks for the crit, I'm actually looking to create some more, with more interesting locations of course! ;) baleze - People at my work are really interested when I tell them what I do in my freetime, but they never seem to be interested in comin along....I'll definitely be making more of these. dead_light - Whenever I get burned out with all the hours flying by I try to head out and see what I can find in the real world! I've had some long renders, but 2 1/2 weeks, damn! For an animation or one shot? I'm definitely planning on doing some more.

Yeah man, two and a half, back when two gigs of memory was considered near overkill. Which really isn't that long ago, 5 years or so. It was for one shot, dealing heavily with refracted light through glass. Crazy fun stuff when it was all said and done, but sure a bugger to wait for.

| | | Well, building the pipes and all the pieces takes the longest, as well as adding the texture of rust, grunge, water, etc...I would guess around 10 hours to set everything up and about 1.5 hours to render each image... Thanks for the interest...I really want to do a more surreal image next time, so we'll see!

| | | Very good, i almost thought it was real. I used to model in Power Animator Alias|Wavefront. Been about 10 years now, uggg. Everything in the scene is excellent, except the filing cabinet. The drawers seem a little too odd, maybe close one or not angle/tip the front? Very good work, and keep up with it.

| | | Cool! I'm a digital artist myself. I posted this before, but it's relevant: http://vimeo.com/11485551 It's rendered real-time in a game engine, so it's not nearly as detailed as yours, but I'm still proud of it. Whenever I'm out exploring, I'm always taking reference and texture pictures to use later.
