I'm unsure with this one.

Getting my head around Sony Vegas Pro is numbing my mind so this was a kinda rushed job.

It's not perfect but what feedback can you guys give.

It's going to be a bit of a learning curve going to video from stills so it's still only early days.

That was pretty cool actually.

UE must be evolving. i used to hate 90% of UE vids, but i swear they're getting better. i've definitely seen some good ones posted here lately.

i think what you did right was simple: you kept your movements slow and smooth. the UE vids i hate the most look like the cameraman suffers from hyperactivity and ADD.

I'm seriously thinking of getting a rig to keep the cam a bit steadier.

Its really front end heavy when I use the 14-24 lens and makes it hard to keep things smooth when you're trying to make sure you're holding the damn thing upright.

You can get them for handycams so it shouldnt be too hard to rig one to a dslr.

Tripod tilt/pan isnt too bad given I'm not using a video tripod.

Other feedback I was given is that some of it looked very "staged" which I can see where they get that from. It's hard to explore a place, take your own photos and pick up on reactions of 2 other people all at the same time.

I like the challenge video is bringing me though.

It's a whole new beast all together

A bit of history on the building

A 12 story nurses quarters attached to one of Sydney's active hospitals that dates back to 1876.

The hospital, named after Queen Victoria's son Prince Alfred, who had survived an attempted assassination in Sydney in 1868, was opened in September 1882 with 146 beds, and within a year had admitted 1,069 patients and performed 147 operations.

By the 1960s, there were more than 1,500 beds available with a large staff of medical, nursing and administrative staff to service them. The nurses were accommodated in the Queen Mary Nurses' Home, which opened in 1956.

Now days it's long since loved and taking on a new life. A life of it's own, decaying and rotting while awaiting re-development.

For handheld, that is truly impressive. Especially considering the weight of the D3s+14-24. We used a Glidecam with our 5dII and 7d and it works wonderfully.

I shoot photos.

Very cool video, I especially like some of your slow pans across the rooms. The 14-24 does wonders with that.

Like you, I'm also breaking into video and using the same camera and lenses and am really liking the challenge that video offers.
Sometimes it can be hard to capture the feeling of a place but with video you can tell a story a little more.

I am very interested to see what you come up with next.

*I added you as a contact on Vimeo too.

Ahh that was you.

I thought that was a local Sydney explorer called Goretex.

Nothing much in the works with video for now. Went out last night but it was a location where I didn't want to be messing around in one spot for too long. High risk of being busted.

Wish I did though as it's now one of the best location's I've done. Return trips happening soon so i'll see what I can swindle.
