| | | Guards can be gauged pretty easily. There's a Hospital here that's been closed for ages that I've wanted to check out forever. As a 22y/o female with a sizable chest and an even more sizable DSLR Camera, I've never had an issue going up to guards to say "Hey, I'm doing a calendar of closed schools/hospitals/whatever i want into that day in *enter town/county name here* and I'd like to get a few shots of this one. Do you think I could take some shots on the outside for my project? I've had one guard wait until his partner left and given me a phone number to call anytime I wanted inside - he even gave me the tour! Just don't cause a fight, and you should be fine. If they ask you to leave, don't argue, just go. If you're honest (or at least seem honest) about your intentions, they'll probably be fine with it. You could always go with the same approach as I do, just walk up and ask for information. I've always been more of an "ask permission" than "infiltrate" kinda UE'r, but the idea has worked in my favor. Always. Good Luck! If you want more advice, send me a shout. -Elle

| | | A lot of hospitals have tunnels but in my experience most of them are accessible only from inside the main buildings and or staff housing on the outer edges of the property. Just sneak into the darn building, they are just security. Don't let them see you and you are gold.

| | | I've been damn near pissing myself reading the replies. TZ, you my friend have a unique mind... I agree completely my ex-security guard friend, friendly and polite is the way to go. It can be a shit job and shit pay, the last thing they want to do, or you to do, is to make their job harder. The main thing to remember is trespassing is not an executable offense, unless you're wearing your favorite terrorist mask and a novelty bomb vest trying to explore an active nuclear power plant. The worst you'll face is walking away with a 250 ticket, (Delaware fine, your state may vary). Relax, have fun, but be ready to pony up if you can't talk your way out.
