Don't be so dumb, most parts of North America have many different wild animals, some may even be rabid. Would you like to accidentally corner a rabid racoon, or skunk for that matter??

I guess i understand, when i go out mine hunting having a gun would definitely make me feel better about going off the beaten path. NW has many threats Cougars, bears, the occasional guy who shoots people who wander too close to his crops, and Sasquatch.

Coming from someone that lives in a country that doesn't allow you to have any personal liberties as far as firearms go, I take no offense to your comment. People with no education on personal firearm ownership have no grounds to stand on when it comes to passing judgement on those that do Carry a firearm responsibly.
And i'm not really worried about small animals... it's the larger ones I'm worried about in my area (aka coyotes, mtn lions, bears).
typically I have my flashlight and pocket knife and safety in numbers when urbexing on a normal day.

My father has the compact version of the .40 M&P and I love it. It's so much nicer than compact/sub compact glocks.
One day, when he's not looking, I'm going to steal the night sights off of his hahaha.

I regularly take mine while exploring. If I'm going somewhere illegal it stays in a locked case hidden in my legally parked vehicle just like going to the bank or school or anywhere else you can't carry. I think of it as a tool just like a socket set or jumper cables that you might keep in your trunk. You might not miss them until you really need them. And in certain places or situations you might be screwed without them. I know people who don't usually carry a firearm might not agree with all that. But you know why they compare opinion's to A$$holes we all have one.
I actually had a run-in with the police when I thought I was parked legally but wasn't. I was also trespassing in an active mine that I thought was inactive. I told him I held a CCW permit and the weapon was in my vehicle and he just nodded and said that was a good place for it. I got away with nothing more than a "don't come here again speech"
Also glad to see another guy with a first aid kit, could be infinitely handy.
All in all doesn't look like a bad kit, maybe a little heavy with 2 tripods??
And I don't see a back-up flashlight, hope its not pictured or you never lose a bulb or have switch/battery trouble.

If they're not though...srsly, rated biners really don't cost much. Especially non-locking like those. You can get rated non-locking biners for like $7.
I wasn't really sure what the rope and biners were for though, but you really wouldn't wanna hang on that stuff either.
Other than that looks like a nice basic kit =)
A .380 would be more concealable, though not as effective against them large wild beasties.
Give a person a match and they'll be warm for a minute, but light them on fire and they'll be warm for the rest of their life. =) |

I brought it up on my Flickr site that the Beaners were Not rated, and should not be used for climbing. I usually attatch my flashlight to it and then clip it to my pants and put the light into my pocket. I also use the Beaners to keep the zippers together, almost like a psuedo lock when walking around downtown or if I'm out for a while so no one can run up and just unzip and grab my stuff.
The rope is just in case... I have found many many uses for rope in odd ocasions.

In New Mexico I came face to face with a Mtn. Lion with only about 50 ft of distance between us... Come across coyotes in NC on a few occasions.
It's like condoms... Rather have one and not need it, then need one and not have it haha
