| | | It might help if you gave us even the Slightest Clue (TM) as to where this might be in the World; either by filling out your location in your profile, or... you know... telling us where it is? Just an idea for great success. Chris...
We all had ostriches. My dad had an ostrich farm! I remember one day someone came in and said the high altitude bombing of Kosovo had been a limited success, so we all went out and celebrated… by killing an ostrich and boiling it in kiwi fruit. |

This location is in south eastern mass. I cant tell if its a restaurant area or motel or hotel. wasnt able to get a picture since this at an intersection.

After looking at the "Parked In Front" thread, I wasn't sure if I was going to get accepted on the board being that I don't have a FWD/AWD foreign passenger car. Heheheh... I kid!

Thats where YOUR brain has to step in and decide. Do a little research on it or take a look around the place. Say in so and so county or in this part of the state like you just did. You could even say the town on something like that.

Yeeeeaaaahhh. Better things in Hopedale anyways... DJ Craig, Geoff5093, and myself went to that big ol mill there during the 3rd Mansion Party weekend Or I should say they did but it was my idea to go though; I showed up late because tomtom sucks at directions... They got in to find there were people walking around inside so we met up and went to Worcester instead. I've always wanted to return there at night though, been lazy.

Draper Mills The fucking GIGANTIC mill... Biggest mill in the Northeast and over HALF was already demolished and it's still MASSIVE. http://maps.google...,0.018733&t=h&z=16 No I don't care if this is publicly viewable. The thing is active, the police station is within walking distance, and local fire depts are extremely paranoid about the place burning because they know they don't have the resources to handle controlling it (news article)... It is well watched, I'd put money down it is alarmed and has motion sensors. That being said you can probably get permission to take pictures here. Oh and I forgot to mention they have 24/7 private security here. [last edit 12/23/2009 4:40 PM by \/adder - edited 1 times]

| | | That's a damn impressive mill but i'm relatively sure that the mills in willi are larger, though no longer abandoned. (not to get into hair splitting or anything.)

Willimantic? Even when Mills 4 and 5 of the Windham Thread Company were still standing it wasn't nearly as massive. Draper Mills (Full Member) UEDB entry: http://www.uer.ca/...ow.asp?locid=23583 I just want to get on the roof of the mill. I'm pretty sure though if you put forth an effort you can get permission to photograph it. [last edit 12/26/2009 1:10 AM by \/adder - edited 1 times]

You know that Thomas Edison hung the first electric lightbulbs inside ANY mill in Mill Number 4? And the Windham Thread Company owner invented the coffee break? He gave the younger children a snack and 15 minute break and noticed they produced better work. He then extended this break to all of the mill workers. Also Mill Building Number 2 has the oldest fire escape in CT on it? The original fire escape still stands over the river with "dangerous undercurrent" signs posted all around. I would have considered attempting the mill rooftop but I'm sorry I don't fuck around with turbines.

| | | Yeah man, mills at willi are beautiful and about as historic as an industrial building can be. Moreover, that grey stone is awesome. I always forget you get down with mills too. some nice ones out there in our state that's for sure.
