| | Christmas in Detroit < on 12/8/2009 7:25 PM >
| | | Hey guys, As it so happens, I will find myself in Detroit for a few days over christmas (24th-28th). I am a big fan of Detroit and holiday explores. If anyone would be willing to meet up with me and show me around for a bit I would be mostly appreciative and would return the favor if anyone finds themselves in the Los Angeles area. Thanks

| | | What's in Detroit besides cheap abandoned houses and 500,000 people looking for jobs? Oh wait, I know! The Detroit Lions!
Some girls should just be happy they were invited to the prom.. |

| | | Detroit probably has more abandoned locations that any other locale in the entire world, my friend. While that may not add up to much for the average tax collector/bureaucrat, it makes for a virtual paradise when it comes to urban exploring. Just my 2 cents...having lived here my entire life and all...........

| | | Yeah, I've been thinking about roadtripping over to Detroit for a while now. I'd rather not die in Detroit though; I've heard the violent crime rate has gone through the roof in many parts of the city. Suggestions?

| | | Detroit is a city in which every good thing you've heard is 100% true in some areas and every bad thing you've heard is equally true in other areas of the city. Downtown proper is generally safe as long as you stay on the main drags such as the Greek Town area (or the business sections during afternoon hours) Honestly, I do not know of any great hotels or motels right within the city except for the ones around the Ren Cen, but from what I heard you will pay through the nose for a room in that complex. There are, however, a few decent low rent lodges/motels just a few miles outside the city limits. If you ever want any names/numbers for the places, just let me know.

| | | Detroit isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I have lived here my whole life and work in the city i have never had a problem. I wouldn't do MCS though they are supposed to be decorating it up for christmas so there will be lots of people around.

About 900,000 people who don't make it a habit to talk down about somebody else's city...regardless of their opinion on it. when life in St. Cloud, MN becomes as hard as it is in Detroit, when it finally enters the same plane of reality as Detroit, then you can talk shit. EDIT: also, it is not a hotel, it was luxury apts [last edit 12/20/2009 8:05 PM by DrainStormer - edited 1 times]
