shoulda been a politician.

Are you guys serious? Do you only come out in packs so you can supply each other with opinions?

At least Devilc was complimentary, and gave an actual critique.

Before you blatantly disregard someone's photos out of hand, how about you take a good long look at your own work and think about what you could improve on.

All you two seem able to do is drag up things that are no longer relevant. We get it, you don't like Mentok. No one cares.

And speaking of shitty tags, how about the f/rox stickers all over Maryland?

Since you seem to be mentok's spokesperson...

I felt that Paranoid? gave a decent example of a shot that he felt was better and showed why it was better. It was a bit sneaky of him to pick that shot but it also does bring up a point.

Like devilc said the 1st shot is a good shot and it's a different and unique angle. The other shots are way too saturated and contrasty for my tastes, I would like to see both of those things toned down to make them better shots. The night shot could have been changed in post processing to remove the orange/red cast, I think it would look better it that was done.

I'm always working on improving my photography and do that by looking at a lot of photos of here to see what I like about them and then try to add that into my own work.

I think some of mentok's recent actions, including the image that Paranoid? posted are very relevant. I have only seen the photo but it looks like it was something more than just writing on dust in a wall. I plan to find out for sure later this week. I don't dislike mentok, he seems like a fine person, he just has made some questionable decisions recently and backs them up with evading the issue at hand which makes me rather unamused. Explaining and owning up to things is a far better way to go then avoidance.

I am not part of F/RoX thus I do not have any of those stickers in my possession, nor have I put them anywhere. I will say that those stickers are very easy to remove, much more then whatever paint and/or paint thinner it looks like mentok used to write his name on that wall. Even if he only wrote it in the dust on that wall (and I do not remember much dust in that room) I would still say a sticker that can easily be removed without damage does less damage then writing in dust on a wall if you are going into the leave only foot prints ethics debate.

Actually, Pluvius is not my spokesperson, but he and I explore together. And he posted a few things for me because I was unable to on another forum. As far as the criticism of my photographs, maybe you could have just given the above criticism prior to Paranoid's response, instead you added very little to this thread up until now. I am constantly trying to improve my photography, hence I posted in this thread, you on the other had nothing to contribute up until now.

When you speak of recent actions, how recent do you mean? For one, if I even wrote my name on the wall in Paranoid?'s shot, it would have been quite some time ago. But I did not write my name on that wall, so I don't see how thats relevant. Also, the other "recent" issue you speak of I have not denied at all, and yes, I made a mistake, and I'm trying to move on.

Also, if you had seen the Private Message I sent to Paranoid? then you would have noticed that I previously owned up to what happened, as well as in a few PMs between myself and devilc. Maybe instead of trying to call me out in a public forum, you could ask me about these things when I called you, instead of lying to me that you didn't know why I couldn't log in.

And just for records sake here is the PM I sent to Paranoid?

Paranoid,

I wanted to reply back to what you said in the last PM I received from you on UA. Unfortunately I was unable to send you one due to problems logging in. Anyhow, I just wanted to say a few things. For one, I apologize for my drunk rant PM the other night, there were things said that I shouldn't have. I have no difficulty admitting to what happened, and I have not tried to deny any of this. I understand why you think I deflected and that was petty of my to call out [members name removed], other than being drunk and defensive thats all I can say. As far as your claims that I'm not being mature about the whole thing, I would like to at the very least ask why you did not confront me privately? Its not like you don't know me. Is it absolutely necessary to publicly ridicule me before hearing what I have to say, or dare I say it was just easier to put that much internet between you and me because you weren't man enough to talk to me directly?

I don't want there to be hard feelings between you and I, and I certainly hope that I can remain your friend after all of this, although I understand that you are angry.

Thanks for reading what I have to say.

Here is a tip that I assume will work in gimp, even though I never used it. I should say this might not be the best way to go about things, but it is an easy way fro you to try things out. Use the middle eye dropper in levels. This will select your grey point. Try it out in different areas on the last picture, in greys and whites and see what you get.

I am not going to fight you on the saturation. If that is what you want, it is what you want. Still, I think you should avoid post processing that creates halos.

Regarding all the drama. I don't see why he should bring this to another thread. The battle was brought to him here, so I don't see why he shouldn't fight it here. Though, I don't even really know what the battle is about.

thanks for the advice, i imagine you are talking about the levels dialog, or the curves dialog? i typically use a process of balancing the lights and shadows a little with a gimp plugin, then some work to adjust the local contrast.

i might try out the two saturated photos out with a little less saturation. the halos, i definitely want to get rid of them.

about the drama, i made a mistake some time back, it was something that i don't do anymore, it was brought up about a month ago and now they are brining the drama here rather than settle this w/ me in PMs

mentok,

I'm glad to see you finally admit that you made a mistake and are moving on. You did nothing of the sort before, just deflection. I still question your name on the wall but I'll let it go.

I can't read PMs sent to other people so how was I supposed to know any what was contained in them?

As for you being banned on UA, I did not do that. When you called me it was earlyish in the morning and I had not touched a computer that day to see what was going on. I found out after I got off the phone with you. You called me the next afternoon when I was at work and I could not answer it. I called you back an hour or so later when I left work and was on my way home, you didn't answer, I left a voicemail and you never returned it.

As for the logging in that's out of my hands, I don't control that part of things.

Its also a common thing to get color casts while shooting at night using the available artificial light.

right, you should fix it is all i'm saying it looks silly and un natural

very true, the only difficult part is trying to balance it with the green cast in some of the grass, but I've definitely accomplished harder:

But even that one still has some work.
