Gerber Paraframe II. Sturdy, stays sharp, and it's inexpensive enough that I won't be bummed if I lose it.

Thats one of the ones I use and for those reasons too along with the fact that its always easy to carry. The other would be an Ontario Knife SP6 Fighting for long travels through the great outdoors

I guess not many people are in Cali where having leathermans or assisted open knives are certain to bring charges against you if the cops feel like they are having a bad day or want to make yours bad.

Meanwhile I just have a simple gas station knife that was around $5 and has never failed me, even when others knives aren't able to do the job. I figure why carry a $100+ knife when I may drop it or want to chuck it.

yea i don't think having a giant blade is really all that practical, like others have said, other than the knife on my leather man i carry a small gerber folding blade, just thin enough to fit in door gaps, as far as protection goes, well the crowbar seems a bit more intimidating

This is all I'll ever need. Except maybe a bat'leth.

Always: Gerber multi-tool
Occasional: Sheathed hunting knife (Apparently totally legal because they didn't take it when they confiscated everything else.)

I'd like to pick up a good army surplus machete in the near future (Disclaimer: Not for city use).

I carry any one of the folders here on a regular basis, though I usually take one of the gerber knives when exploring because they were cheap and I dont care if I lose them.

I have the same Kershaw Leek and Gerber AR 3.00 as you... I sold my United Cutlery Elite Forces knife a while back. The Gerber is a POS and rusts like crazy; the Kershaw is a really nice knife though.

I'm too lazy to take a picture but I accumulated quite a large knife and sword collection when I was a teenager (My dad bought me a Ka-Bar for my 13th birthday).

I stopped carrying a knife on me after I turned 17 (when I could be charged as an adult). Though I started carrying a box cutter again last year but that's for work.

Yup, daggers..here in RI anything over 3" is illegal to carry, and some of those folders look to be about that. The law is written weird though..

§ 11-47-42 Weapons other than firearms prohibited. – (a) No person shall carry or possess or attempt to use against another any instrument or weapon of the kind commonly known as a blackjack, slingshot, billy, sandclub, sandbag, metal knuckles, slap glove, bludgeon, stun-gun, or the so called "Kung-Fu" weapons, nor shall any person, with intent to use unlawfully against another, carry or possess a dagger, dirk, stiletto, sword-in-cane, bowie knife, or other similar weapon designed to cut and stab another, nor shall any person wear or carry concealed upon his person, any of the above-mentioned instruments or weapons, or any razor, or knife of any description having a blade of more than three (3) inches in length measuring from the end of the handle where the blade is attached to the end of the blade, or other weapon of like kind or description. Any person violating the provisions of this subsection shall be punished by a fine of not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000) or by imprisonment for not more than one year, or both, and the weapon so found shall be confiscated.

Then there's this;

§ 11-47-43 Collectors and police officers exempt from § 11-47-42. – The provisions of § 11-47-42, so far as they forbid the possession of certain instruments or weapons, shall not apply to any person who possesses or is making a collection of the weapons as curios or for educational, professional, scientific, or any other lawful purpose, without intent to use the instrument or weapon unlawfully. Nor shall the provisions of § 11-47-42, so far as they relate to the possession or carrying of any billy, apply to sheriffs, constables, police, or other officers or guards whose duties require them to arrest or to keep and guard prisoners or property, nor to any person summoned by those officers to aid them in the discharge of their duties while actually engaged in their duties.

That last bold line is where I'd fall I guess...if I were to use a knife in self defense to stab, slash, or kill someone...they would have to prove intent that I went out looking to stab, slash, or kill someone.

Then again if I were to kill someone, I've got a lot bigger problems on my hands than possession of a knife.

*REDACTED*

The Mtech knife on top and the UC Elite Forces Recon would be added to the list. Everything else is fine.

Connecticut is if cutting edge is 4 inches or less. Most Cops won't do shit if you have a knife in your pocket. If it's unreasonably long; then you'd have an issue. The whole illegal length thing is bullshit; unless they are out to fuck you over; in which case there are far worse things they would come up with.

I've shown the CT game warden the 6 inch hunting knife on my belt; he asked me where I got it; (Christmas: Thanks mom!) said it was a superb quality knife. Said it was fine by him. That would be the last knife on my previous post. And game warden's have the exact same powers the Staties do...

Yes you are going to gut a deer with a knife that has under a 3 inch blade. It'd take you all day...

There's the key words..."out to fuck you over"...I don't trust cops as far as I can throw them.

That said, I carry knives that are within reason. My main blade is a Spyderco Delica which is just under 3" and does most of my cutting. Backup blade is the little 2" or so blade on my Powerlock. Then backup to the backup is the 2" or so blade on my Vic Soldier. Then the backup to the backup to the backup is the blade on my Micra.

I'm always afraid I'll get pulled over for some lame reason like a chunk of snow on my plate and the cop will walk away with all my shit and tell me to take a hike.
