I think there should be a "Mark Read" button on the main forum page.

Like many users on here, I only read a few of the categories. Personally, I only read "Main, Ontario, Forum Issues and Other"... I imagine I'm not the only one that doesn't read half of the posts on here.

It gets annoying to have to click into every single category to check off the 'mark read' button everytime I sign on in order to get rid of those blue/green circles.

If there were a master 'mark all read' button on the main page, it sure would have me some time... and it would save the site some bandwidth too... not a lot, but a little. multiply a little by all of our users, and it'd probably add up over the month.

People have suggested this so many times, and he has seemingly ignored them. But I really like this idea! It would save me bundles of time, as opposed to opening each board up and hitting mark read. I really hope Av implements this.

Well, at worst, it's convenient for all of us... at best, it saves some bandwidth!

I don't see ANY reason why this shouldn't be implemented.

Alright, I've coded it. I personally don't know why you'd want to ever mark anything as read... the forum tracks things you havent read so well, why would you want to throw that away?

but it's there now. by the way, clicking that button creates about 5,000 records in the database for everyone that clicks it ;P

The reason I want to mark everything as read is because I don't want to read half of the catagories!

And those coloured circles just SCREAM: "open me up!"

Now they're a pleasant grey colour!

Thanks Av!

I never even pay attention to those little circle things. I just click on the boards, scan the list of subjects, and if something sounds interesting i'll click on it and read it. I don't think i've ever felt compelled to read an uninteresting-sounding thread just because the little circle thing beside is green. Where is this "mark read" option? *goes to look*

Ahhh, i see it now. I was looking in this individual thread for it, not on the whole "forum issues" board itself.
I thought people just wanted to mark certain threads as "read" when they wanted to ignore them so it would be easier to scan the list of threads for the ones they want....... not mark off entire boards... lol... Just don't go to the boards you don't want to read!
