I have a thing for doors - Lister Block

Shot with a Canon 350D, and a broken 17-40mm f/4L (Images came out as flat as they did when I had my kit lens.. I shot these before I took it back for another copy). Only CS3 tweaks were with WB, and a bit of sharpness to compensate for my bad 17-40.
Critique and constructive criticism greatly needed/appreciated.

I like them and I can see a charm in the two most likely to get panned on here (1 and 3).

I think if there were more contrast they would be better, cause they're already pretty awesome as is.

40+ year olds with Myspace pages are not cool, they are pediphiles on the prowl. Buyer beware.

All are nice pics Bryan!

I'll let Bryan tell the story if he wishes, but they tried to do the same thing to this place that actually happened to Alma college.

Another set from silent hill (most noticeable to me was the back courtyard).

Lister Block is basically a cornerstone for Hamilton's UE scene. It's seen it's better days, obviously. Hundreds of explorers have going through it's 6 stories. Located in the heart of downtown Hamilton, the recent years have led to it's demise. The owners are pure slumlords, who got it for an amazing price, let it sit for 9 years and then are trying to sell it to the city for a ludicrous price. Efforts to save it from the wrecking ball have been hit and miss, and there's a huge political battle that's been going on for about 3 years now.

In April, the Balfour building, a weaker part of the Lister Block (Lister is built with reinforced concrete, top to bottom.), collapsed during one evening. Throughout the night, more and more of the building collapsed.. until the morning, when an immediate demolition order was given for the Balfour building.

This was both good and bad. Bad, obviously because they lost an important part of Hamilton's heritage, and good because it woke people up to just how lenient the city is on property standards. The public opinion of the owners changed, and more pressure is being put on them to do something about it.

Prior to the collapse, the owners (idiotically) placed boards over every one of it's hundred or so windows. Lister lost so much of it's appeal to explorers because the inside went from amazingly bright, to pitch black. So, after the collapse, and demolition, there's an x amount of ambient light coming in from where the building was.

I'm interested to see what you can pull off with a properly functioning 17-40. Sucks that you got a dud on the first go.
